Former German footballer Mario Basler warns Nick Urtemaid that he made a major mistake when joining Newcastle United.

Basler believes the 23-year-old striker should have stayed in Stuttgart for another year or moved to Bayern Munich instead of moving to the Premier League with Newcastle.

Newcastle paid 90 million euros to sign German International. They hope he can reach the run and establish himself as a key player for them. They wanted to sign him as a replacement for Alexander Isaac, who moved to Liverpool.

Swedish international is exceptional to them, and replacing him is a major challenge. However, the German is a talented player with a bright future, and it remains to be seen whether he will soon be able to adapt to British football.

Nick Urtemaid is warned

“Uli Hoenes was right with the doppel pass. Woltemade isn’t worth €90 million and he’s going to have a big problem in Newcastle,” he told Goal.

“I don’t think Woltemade will win at Newcastle. In my opinion, this move was wrong for Woltemade.

“He should have stayed in Stuttgart for another year or went to Munich. It all happened very quickly. The offer came and he went straight away.

“I think that was a big mistake for this young man’s career. This young man certainly played for six months. I think it was a wrong move. It wasn’t a step in his career to move him forward.”

The player certainly hopes to prove his doubts wrong in his performance in the coming months. He has the physicality and technical attributes to get along well in the Premier League. And it will be interesting to see if Newcastle can make the most of him.

Magpies paid a considerable amount to the players, and the Pleset tag weighed heavily on the players. It remains to be seen how he will deal with the weight of expectations.
