The past 12 months have certainly been a tumultuous for Tottenham Hotspur, both under various managers, from the field and in the meeting rooms.
Ange Postecoglou finished waiting for the Lilywhites’ 17-year trophy, but it wasn’t enough to keep him at the helm after finishing 17th in the Premier League.
Thomas Frank was brought to the club in the summer and began a new era to build on the success of the Europa League, which was endured in the backend of the previous campaign.
However, after President Daniel Levy spent 25 years in the role and resigned in the last few days, another new era appears to be set to begin on the field.
Many of his decisions in his time in North London have been questionable to say the least, but his move to the land now looks like a great business.
DJed Spence rose to stardom with Spurs
In the summer of 2022, the Spurs completed the signing of right-backspence from their championship outfit in a move that didn’t work with manager Antonio Conte.
The Italian was unhappy with the addition and stated that he didn’t want to sign the player, then removed him from plans for the 2022/23 campaign.
After six first team outings that year, he joined Lens on loan and then spent the loan on loan at Leeds United and Genoa, respectively.
However, the injury setback during Post-Coglow’s reign after last season gave him the opportunity to show off his talent at the 25-year-old – something he grabbed with both hands.
Spence made 35 appearances in all competitions in 2024/25 and scored his first Premier League goal in a victory at Ipswichtown in February.
Such a turnaround was surprising, especially considering he almost left in Conte’s era at the club – Frank now enjoys the reward of hierarchical faith for fullbacks.
The defender then made England’s first appearance in a victory over Serbia on Tuesday night – showing more of the sensational rise he endured in North London in recent months.
A player who can become Frank’s new Spence
After taking the reins in the summer, Frank needs time to implement his system. He saw him bring Brentford to a consistent Premier League outfit from the depths of the championship.
However, he has a glimpse into his tactical abilities, even defeating Manchester City 2-0 in Etihad in the second match of his tenure in North London.
He hasn’t been afraid to make big calls in recent weeks. After the Brazilian was highly promoted in a move away from Lily White, he influenced and influenced striker Richarrison.
The 28-year-old has two goals and assists in his first three league games of 2025/26.
The Frenchman moved permanently to Lily White during the offseason after spending his last campaign on loan under Post Coglow – scoring three times in his 20 appearances.
However, since returning to the club, for the 20-year-old, it was not all voyages, not a single start, and was limited to just 19 minutes to the first team action so far.
Tell’s misery has gotten worse in recent weeks after being removed from the 25-man Champions League team. This is definitely a decision that shocked the fanbase.
He gained a reputation as a talented young man in Bayern Munich, leading to one analyst who claimed he could become “one of the best in the world.”
His recent snub from Frank’s side puts him in great doubt about his future at the club – suffering from the same fate as Spence for the early months of his own spell in North London.

However, the right back is proof that the player can succeed even if the player does not give the best first impression, and Tel needs time to fulfill the possibility that he has arrived.
Offloading the Frenchman in the near future is a big mistake, and could turn from Lily White into the beater of the world in a normal few minutes.
Competition over location is not a bad scenario Frank should have, but it is important that he doesn’t ignore Tell’s talent.
