Man City did a lot of encouragement business over the summer, but they were unable to deal with their biggest weakness area, right-back. A deal was sought for Newcastle and the UK’s Startino Librament, but in the end, he or no one else moved.
And this made Pep Guardiola no choice. Mateus Nunes and Rico Lewis were hoping to fight it to become Man City starters, but they have not been able to consistently function well for the past 12 months. And even if one or both improve, it is expected that a movement will take place in 2026.
Views of Man City Set in 2026
According to a soccer insider, Mick Brown revealed that Denzel Dumfries is one of the players Man City will run the rules before the next transfer window in January.
“Dunfries is someone on the radar. He’s an international fullback in the Netherlands, so they’ll know everything about him.
“City knows what he can do and what he brings to the team, so if the manager and scouts agree that he is the right target, they will make the move.
“I think there are a lot of questions on this Man City side, especially on the back. That’s what they want to deal with as much as they can. They’re playing Nunes right back, despite not in his natural position.
“Radar has some targets on the radar, as the right back is a position they really want to strengthen, and Dumfries can move if they decide they’re the right guy for the job.”
Dumfries has been attracting interest in Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea and more for the past few weeks, but considering Man City is more desperate than those clubs for a new right-back, it could be considered a favorite to sign him.
