  • Aston Villa is struggling with financial problems
  • Villa is not planning to sell Morgan Rogers

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa is on the verge of a difficult decision soon, and their emerging star Morgan Rogers could become one of the victims.

The driving force behind this unlikely scenario is not desire from suitors, but financial needs, Villa is putting pressure on them to comply with the Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Aston Villa is struggling with financial problems

Over the past few months, the villa has taken visible steps to address PSR concerns. A key move was the sale of women’s teams to parental entities, V-Sports, an internal restructuring aimed at strengthening their books.

The intention is to generate enough paper profits to meet the PSR threshold without dismantling the male team. Still, if similar issues continue, the vision of violations is looming in 2026.

Rogers soon became one of the most valuable assets on the Villa team, and he is gaining real interest. The Spurs have had preliminary discussions over the summer, with Chelsea also linked.

The villa blocked departures with a summer window, but reports suggest that next season could be different. If financial constraints have not been relaxed by then, there may be no option.

Tottenham Hotspur seems to be the most interested. Sources say Spurs will have to pay a huge amount of fees, with some reports putting Rogers ratings in areas ranging from 8,000 to £100 million.

Nonetheless, the villa is said to be keen to keep him. Especially considering his importance under Unai Emery. The club considers Rogers to be an important player.

Villa’s performance on the pitch will impact their finances and improve their revenue by finishing high in the Premier League and running deep in European competitions. However, failures and poor performance can make PSR requirements difficult to meet without asset sales.

Rogers was praised as “outstanding” by former Villa Man Stiliyan Petrov of TNT Sports.
