  • Dennis Chilkin faces an uncertain future in Sunderland
  • Black Cat is still undecided about Chilkin

Newly promoted Sunderland has made a positive start to the Premier League season.

They were able to score seven points in the first four games of the season, which makes them comfortable in the top half of the Premier League table.

The ambitious summer transfer under Sunderland manager Regis Le Bliss raised important questions about the future of 23-year-old left-back Dennis Chilkin, according to football insiders.

Kuroneko spent more than £160 million and strengthened her team for Premier League competition.

Among these new additions are Reinde, recently signed by Atletico Madrid, and former West Ham defender Arthur Masque.

These two arrivals directly affect the wings of the same defence that Cirkin traditionally operated.

Cirkin, who joined Sunderland in 2021, is currently the final year of his contract and has seen a significant change in his position within the team.

He’s still recovering from a wrist injury towards the end of Sunderland’s championship campaign, but he hasn’t appeared this season yet. Its absence, coupled with the competition brought by Reinildo and Masuaku, means that Cirkin may have slipped down the Pecking order.

With opportunities for the first team this season likely to be limited, speculation has already begun as to what Cirkin’s next move will be.

Sunderland himself could be tempted to consider leaving when his current deal expires, as they have yet to decide whether to offer him a new contract.

He is young, still developed and needs to coincide with the time to advance. Sitting on a bench or being a sanctuary risks hindering his growth.

Offering him a new contract can demonstrate faith, but only if he believes he will play.

Otherwise, allowing him to leave could be a wiser decision. Chilkin’s era in Sunderland looks uncertain. Injuries, competition, contract expiration, and the confluence of external interests may force a player or club to force a decision.

Sunderland said the 23-year-old star was on his way out of the club soon.
