welcome! Where are you, you ask. I call this weekend 9. Think of it as a place to warm you on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I have an idea. There are hints. There is a tweet. But there are only nine, but sometimes even more. Who am I? The following paragraphs tell several stories. You can contact us via nick.piastowski@golf.com.

Ryder Cup Week is approaching. Do nine nines, 9. Here, let’s take a look at nine items that interest me. This time I will write in Q&A format.

9 for 9 no. 1: It’s okay, I know the Ryder Cup will start next Friday Beth Page Black In New York, the matchups pit the best 12 Americans against the best 12 Europeans. We also know that US captains are. Keegan Bradley And European captains are Luke Donaldand the home team has won the past five Ryder Cups. But why is this important to players?

Hey, I asked that last week at the PGA Tour Procol Championship. What answer did you hear? There’s an idea to play for your 11 peers. And for your country/continent. For these reasons, the event was motivated by Bradley. “When you’re part of it, it really, it really changes you forever, it really is. It changes the way you prepare and the way you set your year goals for your career.” After that, he provided his team with what seemed like his message. It’s existential.

Play it as if it was your last – because it might be. Bradley played in 2012 and the ’14 Cup, and although he believed he would play more, it’s been much shorter since.

“You know, at some point this ends for all of us,” Bradley said. “It’s over for Scotty (Schaeffler). I say it’s over for Jack Nicklaus, such a guy, one of the players at Mount Rashmore. You never know that it’s the last dinner like last night, so you can’t know it’s your last time.

9 of 9 No. 2: Are players receiving rewards this time?

Americans would. Each wins $500,000, of which $300,000 will be sent to the charity, and the remaining $200,000 will be determined by the player.

9 for 9 no. 3: How crazy will Beth Page be?

You’ll think Crazy Crazy. It’s New York. Golf’s Alan Bastable wrote some great works on this subject. You can read it by clicking here.

9 for 9 No. 4: How much did the ticket cost?

They sold out for $750 a day.

Resale tickets can be purchased on Friday afternoons for $1,177 on Friday from the Ryder Cup website. Saturday is $1,154. Sunday is $888.

9 No. 5: Hey, Mr. 9 on the weekend, have you been to the Ryder Cup as an audience?

I have it! My three friends and I went to an event in Medina, Illinois in the year 2012. Best advice? If you’re interested in the results, get the radio if it’s on offer. (Thirteen years ago, that was free too.) I also understand that on Fridays and Saturdays, there are only eight golfers on the course at once, and thousands of fans. If you want to watch the action, jump three or four holes, grab a beer and a hot dog and wait.

9 Issue 6: How did you visit Bethpage in Europe this week?

On Monday and Tuesday, the European Ryder Cup team played Bethpage. How was things like? The video below may provide some tips.

9 for 9 No. 7: Are there any recent bits from Bradley?

On Wednesday, the NBC action-call gang took part in a media conference call, and analyst and longtime Pro Bradfaxon shared that he learned that he would not be making a team on Sunday night after the Tour Championship as part of a kind gesture from Bradley.

This tells Faxon what happened:

“I think one of the very important things is the way he communicates from the captain to all the players and his way of doing things. And I think it’s a great example. I think I had lunch with Ben Griffin a few weeks ago from the selection, and I asked him when I got a call from Keegan.

“He said, I certainly didn’t know. I thought I would be chosen, but I didn’t know until I called.

“But what he said he found very interesting was that Keegan called all the boys on Sunday night. He didn’t want anyone around the people he was trying to tell, like what happened to Keegan on the ‘full swing’.

“And these are certainly small details that both captains have to have to succeed this week, and I think it was a great nugget from Ben Griffin.

For more information about Bradley, the video below is also great.

9 for 9 no. 8: Who will become the MVP?

On the American side, it will be Schaeffler. It’s bold to choose the number one in the world, I know. But I believe that memories of the defeat two years ago may be the strongest along with him.

On the European side, go with Robert McInteal. I think he will make the other crowd the best.

9 for 9 no. 9: Who is planning to win?

USA, 18 Schaeffler 10-foot birdie putt, and final singles match against Rory McIlroy.

Analyst and longtime caddy gym “Bones” Mackay wants a Sunday pairing. (You can read about it here.) I want it too.

9 bonuses! Have you talked about Long Island?

You had to ask. Yes, I do.

Two weeks ago, I wrote in this field that I once had an internship at Long Island. But I trained it in Philadelphia and another intern and I drove to Li after it was finished. Our first stop? Did you want Long Island iced tea from somewhere on Long Island? (We were just graduating from university, but this was certainly a college idea.) The “restaurants and bars” signs of the location looked promising. Maybe it was Appleby or something similar. That’s enough. (This was a smart phone. Keep in mind.) We set up.

And then Barrett came out. Hmm. It could be a club. We were still good to go. We walked to the door.

And there was a $30 cover fee. Hmm. Yes, it has to be a club. There’s no need to worry yet. I paid for both of them. We went in.

I went straight to the bar and ordered. While I waited, I looked to my right.

This New York Rider Cup is odd. The question is, how crazy is it?

A woman was dancing in the bar. Hmm.

I looked behind me. Other women were dancing, and men weren’t. Please clean up one more, no, we weren’t in the chili type place.

I looked to the left. The woman I drove looked at me with a look that made me want to include it in my story about Long Island. About ten seconds later we left.

But I had a drink. Quick.

Let’s see if we can find eight more items over the weekend 9th.

Take home from that week

2. When talking about the Ryder Cup, there is also the unfortunate news that the US Solheim Cup team will not have a charter flight to an event in the Netherlands next year. The story comes from Beth Ann Nichols of Golfweek. You can read it in full by clicking here – these paragraphs are worth noting.

Team USA has not used charters to fly overseas since 2011. Two years ago in Spain, Daniel Kang’s club was stuck in Amsterdam, with both Kang and captain Staysyith asking for help on Twitter. Eventually, Lewis sends his father, Dale, to the airport to retrieve Kang’s club.

Needless to say, Lewis has a 2026 charter.

“That’s just the appearance,” Lewis said. “If the player is on a private plane, it makes it feel bigger and more important and obviously logistically.”

Another takeaway from that week

3. This week, a mid-amateur from the US was played, and Golf Channel’s Brent Lee Romeen reported that six of the eight quarterfinals were former professionals who had revived amateur status. For example, in X, Golf’s Claire Rogers asked for comment, and she was the only one who received the 195 on Friday afternoon.

Her post can be found below: You can find the story of Brentley by clicking here.

Weekend guidance tips

4. I thought this was good. In a recent episode of the Barstool’s Fore Play podcast, Xander Schauffele was asked what job he did to prevent him from “spiraling” if he hit a bad shot, and he replied:

“It was conscious. When I’m in tournament mode, when I’m trying to compete at a high level, I need to maintain a pretty even keel. I don’t feel like a robot. I’m not like a robot, but at work, if I’m at work, I hit a pretty good shot, I really don’t matter. Really Case. So in my mind, I’m really practicing hard to do certain things really well and as long as I can attack those shots correctly or with a transparent head, I’m most likely to hit the right shot. Otherwise, you’ll go back to the drawing and try again. ”

The complete episode can be found by clicking here.

A story I found interesting

5. The following post was interesting. If you started posting scores on Memorial Day and stopped after Labor Day (a 99-day span), people who posted a score of 294 played a lot of golf.

What you are sending me an email

8. Two weeks ago I asked for your Bethpage story, and one below.

I don’t have Beth Page’s inherent black stories. It just reminds you more of the performance experience to share with you.

Beth Page Black Hole 18 in Farmingdale, New York

Inside the Ryder Cup Arena: Beth Page Black Hole By Hole Tour

As teenagers in the summer of 1969-72, we often went to Beth Page on Mondays or Thursdays to take a break from our caddy at our private club on Long Island.

At the time, before the courses at the 2002 US Open were renovated, black was not only a difficult layout, but sometimes there was a bare tee and bunker weed and rock shape. Then, like we do now, it was a long, hot walk in the summer heat.

It will be interesting to see how the course’s reputation has grown since the opening of the PGA and the current Ryder Cup. When we played Beth Page (always as a walk-up), we usually tried to play red, blue, and green. After arriving at 6:30am, the waiting time may range from 45 minutes to 2 hours or more. We didn’t want to wait too long, so black was the last resort course as tea time rarely exceeds 45-60 minutes. So we played black quite a bit – because it was usually the easiest to ride. Considering the situation today, it’s hard to imagine.

Food near the sixth tea was always suitable for buttered rolls, hot dogs or Yufu, so we managed to catch it again on the 12th fairway. Beth Page is a great facility and I have great memories of playing there.

I currently live in North Carolina and have been out on a handful of Beth Pages since the 1970s. I was able to participate in the Open and PGA, but sadly – I was able to access it from the lottery, but the price of tickets for the Ryder Cup is too high.

Non-golf ideas

9. I haven’t posted an NFL pick here yet, so try it out now.

I think it’s the year of the Buffalo Bills.

Another non-golf idea

10. Let’s have 10 items! Saturday is my wedding anniversary. I’ll soon share some of the stories about the greatest woman I’ve ever met.

And yes, she heard about the Long Island Bar written above.
