Before the automatic qualifying window was closed and all the bubbles popped out, Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley revealed that Bryson Deccanbo would be a member of Beth Page Black’s team. The two-time US Open champion was among the top six who were automatically qualified at that time, but there were some additional tournaments on the PGA Tour counterpart’s schedule, but he rarely guaranteed spots purely on points.
Bradley assured that Deccanbeau knew he was on a stable ground with the American side.
“Bryson will be a very important piece for us who have won the Ryder Cup,” the captain said.
In his last chance to see Dedanbaud at the Open Championship, Bradley assured him that he would see a big right-handed man in a few months. He left a personal note in a locker at the Royal Portrush, which aimed to ignite the belly of people wearing red, white and blue in New York.
“I’m kidding this year,” Deccanbeau said openly. “We’re tired of it. We’re tired of losing.”
For DeChambeau, this year’s Ryder Cup has returned to the competition after failing to form a team in 2023. Think of him as dead that summer despite his major run at the PGA Championship.
The omission of decanboe by then-captain Zack Johnson came in after the 2021 Ryder Cup. He teamed up with Scotty Schaeffler. The two scored 1.5 of their two possible points in a four-ball match. Deccanbeau acted as a pseudo-sherpa and scored another full point on Sunday’s single.
Of course, that version of Schaeffler has been gone for a long time. Currently the world’s number one and four-time major champion, Schaeffler has pegs on the ground alongside Dedanbo, as long as Bradley has to stack two of his best players together.
According to the Caesars Sportsbook, Dechambeu (5-1) is only sitting behind Schefler (2-1) as the expected top American point scorer.
In a decanboe with the frame off, Schaeffler starred in Foursome (1-1-0 in the Presidential Cup) along with Russell Henry.
Bradley understands how to pair his best players, but it becomes much more difficult to calculate when considering Deccanbeau. It may sound hyperbolic, but Bradley’s resolve may be the way to include her at 31 year old best.

“I think Foursome is a difficult format to pair, obviously because there are more factors,” Bradley said at the Procol Championship. “There is a golf ball, you really want to match your personality with the Foursome because it is a more stringent form.
As Bradley mentioned before the US final adjustment, there are only a handful of streets where he can send decanbeaus in foursome based on equipment, character or statistical fit. If he can put all three together, Bradley might find a winner at the end of the road.
More importantly, Dechambeau’s decision is that Foursomes will be the opening session on Friday and Saturday mornings. Europe went 7-1 at Foursome in 2023, and the US went 6-2 at Foursome in Moore Whistling Strait two years ago. Winning the Ryder Cup requires a quick start, and despite his career with Mickelson and Woods in 2018, Deccanbeau could be featured in Four Sam.
Based on the equipment (i.e. golf balls), Deccanbeau draws Cameron young. Another recruit of the Titleist prototype, known as the Pro V1X Double Dot, won the Wyndham Championship in its first week. The partnership with Young allows you to take out large variables and feel at home when both players are standing on the ball.
However, Young’s statistical profile is not very similar to Decanbeau’s statistical profile. In its simplest form, both players have long drivers and high quality putters. Iron play can go back and forth, but it is known that struggles around the green pop up. They cannot be more different from a personality perspective. This could actually be beneficial for decanbeau, which depends on how he accumulates.
That’s where Justin Thomas can consider. Of the other 11 players on Team USA, who can not only ride a circus that follows Deccanbo but thrives among them, but who can thrive? Thomas may be the only guy at work. If you want to hit the nitrite and make a roar from the starting line, Deccanbeau and Thomas make some sense as a pairing.
Statistically, their long-term skill set is complementary. Thomas is deadly, a magician around the green, with a wedge in hand, and is well combined with Deccanbeau’s strengths and, more importantly, his weaknesses. The same applies to Thomas, who was not at his best in 2025 with the driver.
The equipment doesn’t match perfectly, but Thomas fulfills the needs of Pro v1x and Foursome Partners, given that Jordan Spiece is not lacking in competition.
Ultimately, Bradley’s decanbo dilemma will not be resolved until the announcement comes on Wednesday evening. Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele are presumed partners, like Scheffler and Henley, but once Dechambeau’s name is removed there will be moments of uncertainty until the second is finally revealed.
In the Four Ball, Bradley can give Deccanbo a little more chain. Ben Griffin had expressed his desire to play with Deccanbo at CBS Sports this summer. Griffin appears to be enjoying the spotlight and is someone who gives Deccanbeau another opportunity to shepherd around the rookie as he did in 2021.
Regardless of the decision, it holds considerable weight for the outlook of regaining the US and the Ryder Cup. The right partner can unlock Dedanbo’s maximum features in both play formats, allowing you to reach your full potential as an American.
“He’s incredible,” Bradley said of Deccanboe, all the way to the Ryder Cup. “He wants to go beyond this team. I think that’s a testament to what a good teammate Bryson is. I think it’s really cool to see. I think it’s easy for everyone to play here and come for dinner. Bryson can get on a plane.
“He’s going to be a huge asset for us. Obviously, he’s fun to be around in terms of how good he is. He’s great for young people. It’s fun to see Bryson in the atmosphere outside the golf course.”
