Taylor Fritz won the Team World Raber Cup on Sunday, beating Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6 (4).

The Americans started strongly at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Zverev found his rhythm and mounted a slow comeback on the second set.

However, Fritz matched the strength and held the company to close the match and secure a victory.

“We’re going to have a fun evening,” Fritz told ATP.com before the trophy ceremony. “It’s definitely going to pop champagne in your locker room in a few minutes.”

The victory delivered the Cup to Andre Agassi of the team’s world in his first tournament as captain, marking the team’s third victory in four years.

“I see these guys on the bench getting excited, I see sports legends like Andre cheering on me, it’s impossible not to get fired so much and give you everything you have,” Fritz said.

Previously, Carlos Alcaraz lived up to the team’s European hopes with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Argentina’s Francisco Cerundo.

The winning team’s world lead led 12-9 in the first event where every Sunday match was worth three points.

Australia’s Alex de Minaur had previously moved Team World within one point of the title, beating Jakub Mensic 6-3, 6-4.

The 26-year-old scored seven points for the team over the weekend, beating Zverev and teamed up with Alex Michaelsen for a doubles victory on Saturday.
