Ousmane Dembele was unable to contain her emotions as she thanked her family after winning the 2025 Ballon d’Or. His story is one of resilience. Starboy threatens to end with a failure surrounded by injuries and Barcelona’s movements. But ultimately, the player sitting on a soccer throne after receiving himself Reassembly In Saint-Germain, Paris.
For all opinions about those who missed the award, it should not be taken from the French own stories. It would have been impossible to foresee the new fake nine genius of Luis Enrique, other than the PSG boss himself. Dembele has been reborn. A player who didn’t score enough became a player who couldn’t stop doing so.
By the time Inter Milan’s PSG’s 5-0 thrashing in the Champions League final, Dembele scored 35 goals and supported another 16 in all competitions. Not many people enjoyed the better season than former Barcelona men. I don’t think French football actually played by a single player.
Raminyamal was forced to settle for second place. He is a star boy where Dembele was no better, but he is forced to wait before the potential era of his domination begins. Meanwhile, Bicinha surprised many people by third place. The classy midfielder played a key role alongside Dembele in PSG’s high notes last season, earning the world’s best position after the Wolverhampton Wanderers’ failure several years ago.
And then there is Mohamed Salah in the fourth. Yes, fourth. The Egyptians who completely missed out on their nominations last season couldn’t even build the podium after a year after a belief that many believe they’re worthy of winning the award itself.
Why was Sarah stolen the Ballon d’Or?
As mentioned earlier, not many players enjoyed a better season than Dembele, but Sarah did. The Egyptians created history in the Premier League by participating in more goals than any other player in their 38-game season history, even matching Alan Shearer’s record of needing 42 games. Simply put, he couldn’t stop.

Ballon D’Or’s social media revealed the criteria for winning the award before the ceremony, saying that individual performances, decisive and impressive characters, team performances and achievements, class and fair play will determine the rankings.
“We’re talking about Baron de Ord. If we’re not talking about Baron de Ord for Mohamed Sarah now, it’s out of hand.” – Daniel Sturridge, February 2025
Based on the above metrics, I feel it’s ridiculous that Sarah finished outside the top three. The only player to match him was Dembele, who deserves Egyptians and necks and necks, not miles beyond him.
Where Sarah lost the Ballon d’Or
Finally, Sarah looks back at Liverpool vs PSG as the turning point for the Ballon d’Or. Again, the Champions League was given priority over anything else in the minds of French football. The penalty shootout between the two world’s best, whom I just happened to meet at the past 16 years old, undoubtedly played a major role in Dembele’s ultimate victory and Sarah’s snub.
That’s a slight flaw in the award. It is human nature to lean towards modernity, but those who vote for the Ballon d’Or winner must simply consider the entire season, not the final months before the ceremony. Sarah was walking towards the throne in the first half of the campaign and had 30 goals involved in the Premier League by the time January arrived.
Meanwhile, Dembele had not yet progressed. The forward recorded 13 league goal involvement and found the backstage of the net just eight times. It was far from Baron de Orwisse. Of course, we know that Enrique’s genius quickly played the role and the French best was unlocked, but it was Sarah who was looking for famous awards on the course.
The Liverpool man never suddenly stopped his form – adding 17 more targeted involvement to his name before the Premier League campaign ended. Alas, somewhere along the way, Glimmer of the PSG Champions League Trophy blinded French football to the history created by Sarah.
For now, the Egyptian king of Liverpool is forced to wait for his cry of moment on the biggest stage of football. Whether or not he will come at all is a big question now. If that doesn’t arrive, Sarah will definitely join things like Andres Iniesta and Thierry Henry as one of the best players who missed the award.
