ElinaSvitolina ‘Not in the right emotional space’, ending the season

Former No. 3 rank Elina Svitolina said she would finish the tennis season early because she was “not in the right emotional space.”

“I haven’t felt like I was lately,” Svitorina said in a social media post on Instagram, followed by a statement on the WTA Tour website. “I’m not ready to play, so I’m finishing the season here.”

Svitolina, now ranked 13th, said she needs time to rest and recharge.

“When I got back on the court, she said, “I want to fight with everything I have and put my best self on the court for the fans, games, games and for me.”

Svitolina finished with a record and one title, 35-14, the WTA 250 clay tournament held in Rouen, France in April, winning the strong 2025 2025. She also played the quarterfinals at the Australian and French Opens.

However, after reaching the Montreal quarterfinals, she lost her first match in Cincinnati and her first round match at US Open.

After being defeated by Montreal’s Naomi Osaka, Svitrina talked about her hateful online abuse from an annoyed gambler.

Last week, Svitorina was defeated by Italian Jasmine Palini after leading Ukraine to the semi-finals of China’s Billy Jan King Cup.

Svitrina, 31, married French veteran Gaelmonfils in 2021 and has a daughter, Skye, born in 2022.

Fellow player Beatrice Haddad Maia also said that a long period of rest would be required and the 2025 season would be over.

“I’ve posted this and shared that I’m putting together the 2025 season a little earlier than planned, so I can rest my body and mind for a long period of time,” the Brazilian player said. “…I’m coming back stronger and don’t worry because the best haven’t come yet!”
