Farmingdale, N.Y. — The opening tee was still shot two days apart, and gamemanship at the Ryder Cup began Wednesday, when European captain Luke Donald took a subtle jab during his speech at the opening ceremony.
“We’re fueled to things that we can’t afford,” Donald said.

And US Captain Keegan Bradley made the first bogey of these matches in 1999 when he spoke about being around the 17th green at Brookline, one of the biggest moments in the history of the Ryder Cup.

Actual golf won’t start at Rowdy Bethpage Black until Friday morning. Over 5,000 fans attending the ceremony were able to feel their presence with the constant chant “America!” And booing powder for Europeans.
