Arsenal has now agreed to a new deal with star defender William Saliba.
French International has agreed to sign a five-year deal with the London side, and development will be a major blow to Liverpool.
Real Madrid is now seeking Ibrahima Conate
Real Madrid appears to have been monitoring Saliba and Ibrahima Konate as potential options for the summer window. Once Saliba signs a new long-term contract, signing him becomes the impossible for the Spanish club next door. Arsenal would ask him for an absurd amount. Therefore, Real Madrid is currently expected to drive a move to sign the Liverpool planet.
Konate will become a free agent in the summer and he will be able to use it for a reasonable amount. It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid can convince the defenders to take part in a free transfer. If the transfer window resumes in January, you can secure a pre-contract agreement with the player.
Can Liverpool maintain their conate?
As Mark Bullus reported in his daily briefing, Liverpool has not given up on his hopes to agree to a new deal with France International, but it has not yet been agreed. There is cautious optimism within the club, but the latest developments on Saliba “has been sweating inside Anfield.”
Liverpool recently lost Trent Alexander Arnold to Real Madrid on a free transfer. They would not want history to repeat itself. Conate is a key player for Liverpool and losing him would be a devastating blow to the club. They already lack deep in their defensive forces, and losing the French International would greatly weaken the team.
Also, losing important players with free transfers would set a dangerous precedent for the club. It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.
