  • Why did Worts start slowly in Liverpool?
  • Wirtz reveals slot conversations about Liverpool format

After Anfield’s start to his career, Florian Whartz revealed that Liverpool manager Arne Slot had told him if he wanted to go back to his best.

Why did Worts start slowly in Liverpool?

It was far from miserable, but Wirtz didn’t get the electric start he had hoped for from the £116 million player. The former Bayer Leberkusen player has arrived as a player with the ability to change the game and contribute to the goal himself, but all Liverpool has seen is a hardworking midfielder who struggled to make his mark.

We got a glimpse into his best form. During the international break in September, Germany scored a great free kick and returned to Liverpool to enjoy the best display against Atletico Madrid. It’s a game that should have ended waiting for goals and assists since Community Shield, but in the end there were many positive signs.

There were also signs that they could control the game with a 1-0 victory over Arsenal, especially when the Alexis Mac Allister was swapped and not sharing the same space with such similar players. Whether these two can flourish together is a big question. Slot, of course, dropped Wirtz for Argentina in the Merseyside Derby, instead of starting both.

Unlike the others in the Premier League, time is on Wirtz’s side. Liverpool scored five points at the top of the Premier League and is the only side with a 100% record. If there is an environment that allows players to settle down, it is Anfield.

That said, Slot still spoke to the Big Money Star about his form and told him exactly what he had to do to get back to his best.

Wirtz reveals slot conversations about Liverpool format

Speaking to the reporter, Wirtz revealed that he had a conversation with Slot about his slow start to life in Liverpool. The Germans revealed that Slot suggested that his form was also downwards in his struggle to adapt to the Liverpool press and its strength.

“Maybe they’re trying to release the ball earlier here. I recently spoke to my manager about it, and he suggested that it might be the press – I’m running a lot.

“My running stats are always high because I give everything and do what the manager asks. But of course it takes a lot of energy. So when I get the ball, I sometimes aren’t as fresh as I want. (Wirtz at Liverpool’s start)

It certainly makes sense why Wirtz struggled to keep pace at times. Unfortunately, if that’s the reason behind his overwhelming form, logic suggests that Liverpool should see the best version of their midfielder as the season continues, reaching the level of his fitness that is needed.
