Ryder Cup: Rory McIlroy swears with Beth Page’s rugged US fan

The furious Rory McIlroy vowed to American fans during Saturday’s Foursome moment at Bethpage Black’s Ryder Cup.

The Northern Irish were preparing to hit the 16th approach to the green, screaming “freedom” when plagued by members of the crowd.

The European talisman, which previously responded to abuse in the first tee by blowing a kiss on the audience, retreated from his shot, saying, “Everyone, I’ve closed ****.”

The remarks drew jeers from the crowd, but McIlroy tracked his comments in the most effective way possible – by firing a shot of iron within 3 feet of the flag.

The shot prioritized Masters Champion and British Tommy Fleetwood for a European 3&2 victory via US duo Harris English and Colin Morakawa.

“I don’t care if they’re going towards us. I’m expecting it. It’s the Away Rider Cup,” McIlroy said.

“Whenever you’re past the ball and trying to hit a shot, whenever they’re still doing it, it’s tough. During the shot, I say whatever you want of me. That’s absolutely fine.

“But give us the same chance that Americans have, with respect to getting us to hit the shot.”

McIlroy and Fleetwood’s handsome victory helped Europe establish an 8½-3½ lead at the end of Saturday’s Foursome, which is about to win the US for the first time since 2012.
