  • Reuben Amorim’s job is a problem at Man United.
  • Can Gareth Southgate save United?

The turbulent start of Manchester United’s season has once again put their business situation in the spotlight.

After a 3-1 loss to Brentford at GTECH Community Stadium, former Chelsea forward Joe Cole publicly called out United to say goodbye to current boss Ruven Amorim, turning his eyes to Gareth Southgate, who described him as the “perfect” alternative.

The defeat to Brentford follows Amorim’s side with just two wins from six league games, along with the embarrassing Carabao Cup exit, as well as the exit to Grimsbytown in League 2.

Reuben Amorim’s job is a problem at Man United.

United’s contradictions are harsh, and promised moments, such as victory over Chelsea, are quickly hidden by disappointing performances.

Against Brentford, they went 2-0 in under 20 minutes, with Benjamin Sesco pulling back the goal and Bruno Fernandez missed the penalty, but the damage came when Matthias Jensen added a third.

Cole was Frank in his ratings, claiming that Amorim had enough time to impose his style and question whether things could turn around.

“He looks anxious on the bench, he looks worried, and I think it filters out to players.” Cole said before claiming United “needs a different direction,” as Metro reported.

In Cole’s view, that direction must be Gareth Southgate. The former England manager who led the three lions to two European Championship Finals and the World Cup semi-finals is currently out of work.

Southgate was previously linked to United, but former sports director Dan Ashworth was believed to be a worshiper.

Harry Kane praises him as “one of England’s greatest managers” when he leaves the national team, and he is praised for his reputation for culture building and unity.

Call added:

“You know I don’t like to say it, but he (Reuben Amorim) likewise he was a bright spark and people were talking about him like the Messiah.

“I thought Gareth Southgate was the perfect person for the job in terms of building culture and understanding players. They went with Amorim and it doesn’t seem to work.”

As United again suffers poor performance, pressure is put on Amorim to quickly find a solution.

But Joe Cole’s voice has grown louder, suggesting that the club needs to see elsewhere.

The name of Southgate brings a plot, and while his success in England is unquestionable, it remains uncertain whether he will adapt to the relentless demands of club football.
