“We need to play better” – Tottenham Star discusses adjustments to Thomas Frank’s tactics

Tottenham centre-back Mickey Van Deven admitted he and his teammates need to play better than they did against Bodeau/Grimt last night.

The Dutch International scored as the Spurs drew 2-2 from 2-0 in Norway, but it wasn’t the best in a game where Thomas Frank’s side was expected to win.

Frank has started a decent life as Tottenham manager since joining from Brentford in the summer, but perhaps a bit of a adjustment period.

When asked about this, Van de Venn felt he felt that Tottenham could play better than this, but admitted that his team mentality praised him for coming back from two goals and taking the draw late…

How did Tottenham begin under Thomas Frank?

Tottenham appears to be heading in a rather positive direction under Frank’s management, even if it wasn’t the most sensational start to the 2025/26 season.

So far, they have won five wins from the Spurs’ first 10 games of the season, with three draws and two losses, one of which was after a penalty shootout against Paris Saint-Germain in the Super Cup.

THFC also scores four points from the first two Champions League fixtures, which isn’t too bad, but they now have three draws and one victory in the final four games in all competitions.

That one victory was against the Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup. So Frank was definitely able to do so by quickly scoring three points on the board in either Premier League or Champions League matches.

Players like Van de Ven will be key to supporting the Spurs this season, but there are also other talented young players who will certainly continue to improve, such as the Xavi Simons and Lucas Bergvall.
