Farmingdale, N.Y. — Last weekend, while walking along the fairway and marching up and down the Bethpage Black hills, a quote from Captain Keegan Bradley came up with me at an introductory press conference 15 months ago. It had nothing to do with all that involved people playing on the ropes and those tasked with putting 12 American players in the best position to succeed.
“I’m going to look at the vice captain a new look. They’re much younger and more like playing,” Bradley said. “I’m with the guys. I’m going to play in the same tournaments that they play. I’m going to play in the majors with them. I’m going to play every week.
“In contrast to the past in the Ryder Cup, they’ve started flying, they’ve started scheduling all these things, and I’m going to spend a year as a peer with the guys, and one of the things that’s important to me is wanting to play on a team. I’ve had, but I know I’m with these guys.
Like many of his leads to the 2025 Ryder Cup, Bradley kept his promises regarding the leadership composition of the US side. He tapped Webb Simpson, Kevin Kissner, Gary Woodland, Blunt Snedeker and Jim Furik to act as his right arm in decisions that sounded great in theory but actually played horribly.

Don’t get the final score from 15-13 wrong because you believe this rider cup is actually close. it was One cohesive team obsessed with continuity and process versus Another one I threw spaghetti on the wall. One reminded me of hypotheses, tested theories, played best practices, while the other side had little experience and tried to flip a new leaf.
“I think 11 out of 12 are great – and obviously Rasmus (højgaard) was a decent ability last time too – (continuity),” Shane Lowry said his Ryder Cup before. “…and there’s also a lot of continuity, like the backroom setup, even the captain, the vice captain, the people who use it in the background. So when we all come together, when we all feel right, we can all play great people right away, but when we’re together, when we’re together, when we’re together, when we’re together, when we’re together, when we’re together, when we’re together, when we’re together, when we’re together, it’s you. The continuity that we’ve got from the last one.”

The US team played the bat on Sunday to bring this Ryder Cup much closer than it should have. The Americans pulled the near-impossible, but their performance on the final day of the competition only further highlighted the catastrophic failure of their efforts in the first four sessions.
The US, which lost only one match in 11 played on Sunday, has proven that there are players who compete and beat the Europeans. He also proved that in order to compete every two years, important work must be done from the top in terms of process. Europe has won nine of the 12 Rider Cups performed in the century.
It all starts with a higher UPS in the US PGA and moves to the selection criteria for the Ryder Cup captain. (Perhaps holding at least one interview is the start.) In addition to giving sparks in 2027, something needs to change for red, white and blue – the US always appears to be focusing on the following – an eternal change that will improve the program in the long run.
Dive into other takeaways from the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Control controllability
The Rider Cup wins behind the player – there’s no mistake about that – but the player must be placed in the best possible position not only by the golf course, but by the skipper away from it. European Captain Luke Donald revealed some steps he took To improve the team hotel on Sunday night after the victory.
“My job is to literally give these people a better chance to win,” Donald said. “It’s as simple as some very small ones. I’ll give you an example: In this week’s hotel room, the door to our hotel room had a big crack that covered the light. We brought something that covered the light.
“The beds weren’t very good, there were seats so we changed the bedding. And we made a better bed, the guys can sleep and have more energy. Those are a bit of a thing. I’m going to really go into small details.”
Sometimes, the rider cups are paired and line-up order. It’s also as easy as changing your shampoo for a more pleasant scent.

The Devil is in detail
Many of the post-term discourse, centered on Beth Page Black, have barely challenged either side and have transformed the Ryder Cup into a pseudo-putting contest, which is fair. European leadership has been surprised by the state of the course; Bradley admitted he made a mistake about how it was set up.
“We tried to set up a course to support our team. Obviously, that wasn’t the right decision,” he said. “Whenever you are the leader of a team, a captain or a coach, I talked about this last night – you’re going to get praise.
“I definitely made a mistake with the course setup. I should have listened a little more of my intuition. For some reason, it wasn’t the right way to set up the course. The green was as soft as I saw the green without the rain.
It was a more epic question, but a seemingly small decision from Bradley was the issue. That was a problem. This is the order in which Russell Henry and Scotty Schaeffler tee off at Friday’s Fourthurm session. With the strange holes bringing benefits to longer drivers and better iron players, Bradley sent out Henry first, Schaeffler left a slightly hidden hole with the driver behind, and ironplay was a bit less important.
In the simplest analysis, Bradley decided to tee off Bryson Deccanbeau and Henry in the same hole. Ultimately, the US made it right in Saturday’s Foursome match, but in the Ryder Cup, determined by one match and some change, it is unacceptable to get it right in the second time when the first move should have been very obvious to the man of his knowledge and experience.
“When Friday night (caddy) Teddy and Andy were finished, I went down into the team room and went to the cold tub and they were sitting at the table and we were cultivating the idea of switching,” Schaeffler said. “The more they saw it, the more we felt we could give us a better chance, and I think that is the case, most of which was the nature of how much the golf course had changed.
“Russell is a guy who hits a lot of fairways and just felt a little more length was important from the tee, and obviously he doesn’t hit as many fairways as Russell.
The star must be a star
On Monday morning my colleague and I were discussing how much European Ryder Cup players were buying into the overall process. And while it’s easy to condemn modern players and obsessions on individual admiration such as major championships, it’s better to give credit to those who have come before.
The Ryder Cup created a career for European golfers. The respect and respect for the lips of current players when talking about these legends is second to none. They can remember every moment of Seve Ballesteros, Colin Montgomerie, Sergio Garcia and Ian Poulter. that A kind of history is important, especially in golf, in this competition.
The US doesn’t have a lot of it. They had a ridiculous Ryder Cup at Brookline in 1999, but that is the event where highlight clips are mainly filmed. Tiger Woods won only one Ryder Cup. Phil Mickelson got a bit better after getting three in 12 attempts.
At this event, for some reason the stars are not shining for the United States. This week it was Schaeffler under a microscope. The world’s No. 1 lost his first four games before he got on the board on Sunday in a victory over Rory McIlroy. No player started 0-4-0 with the Modern Rider Cup, and no top-ranked players in the world had a diminished performance through four sessions.
To inspire the next generation and invoke a new culture, the large players on the team need to play big in big moments. It happened many times for Europeans…it’s not for Americans.
“It’s really hard to put into words how much stab and pain there are, so that you can trust that the captain and teammates will come out there and play all four games and lose all four,” Scheffler said. “I’ll go back and look back on it, but one of the coolest things was these guys who picked me up last night.
“The guys on this team, this is a really special group. We have a special captain. I was proud to be standing there and fighting these guys. I think it showed a lot about our team. I think all these guys did us to succeed. The roar of cams (eron Young).
The tip of the team cap has risen
At 45, Justin Rose continues to ignore traditional wisdom, and now we know why. A lovely British woman fell next to me, sitting behind par 3 14th place on the top of the hill on Saturday. After a while talking about golf courses, fans about her life and her life on the other side of the Atlantic, she revealed her relationship with the European side.
Her son, Justin, was playing for the team.
She spoke enthusiastically about her son’s work ethic and his ability to squeeze every ounce of skill from his “old” bones. She was a proud mother in every sense of the word, but it was the individual girlfriend who stuck to me. Handling her sick knee, she had just marched up the largest hill on the property to get to that position to see the boy.
Mummy roses were decided as much as possible. Tough like a nail. She didn’t interfere with anything. Does it sound like someone else?
A while later, on a big videoboard, Justin shot the approach in a four-ball match between Schaeffler and Bryson Deccanbeau against Tommy Fleetwood.
She took a glance at me and began laughing, “He’s showing off for the mummy.”
The Road to Greatness of the Ryder Cup
Fleetwood and John Lahm arrived in Paris seven years ago as Ryder Cup rookies. They left Long Island as a legend on the road to greatness of the European Ryder Cup. Fleetwood’s record improved to 11-4-2. Rahm now realizes that he is holding the 9-5-3 mark. The duo went 4-0-0 in the last two Ryder Cups and 4-0-0 with foursome. Fleetwood runs with McIlroy and Rahm alongside Mainman Tyrrell Hatton.
While on the team, Rahm and Fleetwood’s teams went 3-1.
Of the Europeans who play at least 10 Ryder Cup matches, Fleetwood’s .706 victory is the highest ever. Rahm is the hair below him at .620.
Given the 2019 Americans announced and expected sales on European rosters like Garcia, Paulter, Lee Westwood and Paul Casey, only four years have been removed from the US’s expected declaration of sustained domination. I’ll add it McIlroy, the greatest European golfer of all timeand it is clear that Europe owns three dogs that don’t stop anything to protect the cup.

The state of mind in New York
The US team had bright spots, but none provided more light to Americans than kids from the average street in the Bronx. With the course record set as amateur and fresh from the summer scorcher to end the PGA Tour season, Young announced his return to Beth Page Black.
After sitting in the first session, he played the final four matches, putting together an impressive 3-1-0 record. This includes the US key opening match full point on Sunday’s single, when he dodged Rose with his teeth skin, thanks to a par-4 18th birdie.
“A lot of reasons,” Young said with rare emotion on the green side of No. 18. “This is the biggest event we really have. On my hometown golf course, there are no big stages to play on the golf course I love. There are 11 others I worked really hard on. Keegan put a lot of captains in this.
“Apparently, the Ryder Cup fired me a bit. I’ve been evoking the emotions over the last few days with the help of JT and Bryson, and I remember there for a long time.”
The usual questions about Young are asked about him gaining experience with the Ryder Cup and translated into something bigger and better on the PGA Tour. It’s wise not to jump to a closely removed conclusion from even numbers…but maybe we shouldn’t bet on it?
vs. real
I know that when golfers try to manufacture touches, people like Jordan Spieth really exaggerates during his practice swing. Do players like Noren and Rose cross the top in rehearsals before addressing the golf ball? That’s what I felt was the difference between the two teams.
The US team tried to manufacture everything about this rider cup. Later, she had the US President walk to her first tee on Friday afternoon alongside Dedanbo, as she later resigned from her role in shame, but none of that felt. Authentic.
American PGA hyped up the rampage of the build crowd Just to see the loyal people of New York crossing over and over againthe Ryder Cup will be transformed into one in which more than 12 European players play golf against 12 US players.
Of all of this, Europe united and made the main one the main one. They relied on brotherhood and bonds.
“The answer to your question is something I don’t know, be honest with anyone other than the badge and the boy,” Rose said. “To be honest, it’s just the badges and the boys that matter.”
