  • Man United has told Roy Keene to be appointed as new manager
  • Keene is a legend, but United need an experienced manager.

Speculation is growing on the potential replacement for the Portuguese coach as Manchester United’s season is off to a rocky start under Reuben Amorim.

Sky Sports expert Jamie O’Hara believes that former club captain and iconic Roy Keene should be given the opportunity to take over the reins.

The discussion goes beyond nostalgia. Keene’s leadership style, uncompromising mentality and past ties with United are considered strong assets in restoring Old Trafford’s identity and standards.

O’Hara argued that Keene brings something unique to dressing room, strength, respect, and anything that he doesn’t want to embrace mediocre.

Critics say few ignore him when he step into the training ground.

Speaking about Sky Sports, O’Hara said, as the goal reported:

“I am surprised that no one has called Roy Keene because he is definitely the biggest captain of a man.

“He’s the leader. He’s incredible. When you see him, he’s ferocity and you listen to him.

“He’s going to lead by example. He’s not going to allow poor standards. I can’t believe Manchester United hasn’t called Roy Keene.

“Maybe it’s because he can’t become a manager.

“Maybe he has too much hot head. I don’t know. They want someone to have more tactical noose or something.

“Roy Keene is the way that he isn’t there every day in that football club, in the dressing room, on the training grounds that tells him this is the norm, that this is Man UTD, this is what we built.

It is Keene’s legacy at the club that works in favor of this idea. As a player, he was a warrior, a skipper who demanded excellence and was never inevitable from conflict. His reputation remains attracting attention in the Old Trafford environment.

Conversely, critics acknowledged that Keene might be viewed as “too hot” or lacking in modern tactical nuance clubs. However, he argued that his leadership could serve as a spark.

The club clearly has other better options to replace Amorim. Keene had long abolished management teams and even when he was in control, he was unable to prove himself and had no experience managing a big club like United.

Other names linked to United’s work are Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraora and Zabi Hernandez.
