After Tottenham Hotspur finished 17th in the Premier League last season, new boss Thomas Frank was always going to do a big job in his hands – especially without the help of Brian Mbemo.
During his stay at Brentford, Dane was able to rely on attackers to produce goods in the last third.

Such a form led to the 51-year-old attempting to sign him after he took over as Lily White’s boss, but the forward decided in favor of a £71 million move to join Manchester United instead.
I will not deny that missing his signature was a bitter blow to Frank, but instead he was able to dig into the market and land another of his summer targets.
The beginning of Mohamed Kudus’s life at Spurs
In a somewhat controversial move, the Spurs landed the signature of Winger Mohammed Kudus from London rival West Ham United during Frank’s first transfer window.
The deal is worth it in the £55 million region except for potential add-ons, and I hope Ghana will improve the options currently available within the last third.
It may only be early in his career in North London, but the 25-year-old hasn’t waste time impressing his fanbase and thinking that he’s all worthy of his big transfer fees.
Kudus has failed to record so far, but he is a constant creative threat, and in many cases the opposition backline does not mark the end of the matter – whether it is in Europe or within.
He lay down four assists for his teammates in nine appearances in all competitions.
Despite being featured just 30 minutes away from the bench, Kudus posted a total of five successful dribbles. This is a higher tally than any other player on the pitch.
There is no controversy that the winger hasn’t spent time impressed with Lily White, but the book has another player who could become the next Mbeumo in North London.
Frank’s next Mbeumo Spurs player
As mentioned earlier, after joining the bees of the French side of Troys in the summer of 2019, Frank was able to get the best from Mbeumo, and then transformed him into an elite level talent.
The duo’s partnership is truly fearful, leading to the end of last year as one of five players who scored more than 20 goals.
Entering the market on the first opportunity demonstrated a desire for new additions to emulate talent at GTEC.
But he may already have his next Mbeumo in the form of Brennan Johnson.
Bets, Dane attempted to land the winger multiple times, and attempted to place multiple bids on his services while in Nottingham Forest.
Obviously, his attempt to secure his signature failed, and Johnson moved to the Spurs in the summer of 2023 on a £47.5 million deal from the Reds.
He’s been firing recently, but he doesn’t deny that it’s worth the enormous amount of money the players spent on his services. Attackers often appear at key moments.
Johnson has been labelled “incredible” by one analyst and registered 18 goals in all competitions last season. This is the best of all players on the team – they won the Europa League final.
Such a tally shows the clinical nature he owns when he is in front of the goal, as well as Mbeumo’s goal, and the Welshman has the tool to become the forward for the next version of his manager.

Also, given the similar role, the comparison is clear. Both players can work from the right side or even in the central area – something that is not often seen in Lily White Star.
Both had the knack of not being able to achieve key goals at key moments, as seen in the Spurs Star’s performance against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup, before reaching key goals.
The addition of Kudus has reduced the game time for 24 years in recent months, which could make it difficult to replicate his form from the European winning campaign.
However, given the previous attempts the manager had to sign him, there’s no doubt he’ll believe he’ll succeed in the attacker during his tenure in charge of Lily White.
Johnson is a player who relies heavily on thriving confidence, and the manager will desperately need to put his arms around him, making sure he fits the height of Mbeumo in the coming years.
