Russell Martin’s “The Bright” was fired by Rangers, named by two candidates

Russell Martin accepted full responsibility after another brooding Rangers performance ended in a 1-1 draw at Falkirk, but may not be enough to save his position at Ibrox.

When striker Bojang Mioffski tapped 41 minutes later, travel supporters once again turned their anger towards Garth’s boss, with repeated hymns to the former Southampton manager before and after John McLin’s team replaced Henry Cartwright and then set the level in the 73rd minute.

Gers fans then sat down to stop the team bus from leaving, but they dispersed to the police. Images show Martin was reportedly departing to the car after security guards showed him being escorted from another part of the stadium.

Ibrox’s side went one win on seven fixtures in the William Hill Premiership, 11 points behind Leader Hart, and 8th place with Celtic and Martin, who were described as “character building.”

He said: “They are giving us everything they have. I think they’re really trying. So I have to take responsibility for it, not for them.

“We had a really honest discussion with them in the dressing room. We’re both unhappy with them, but in the end I’m in charge of the team so we have to accept responsibility. We haven’t had enough wins on a day like today.

Martin admits that the support of the Ibrox committee is not endless, but he is confident that he can get it right.

He states:

“So every draw we had felt like a loss because of the height of this club and what it means and what we have to try.

“So I can’t really answer your questions. You have to ask the people above me.

“The players and staff really feel they’re behind me, and I felt really supported by everyone else above me too.

“I have to try to focus on winning football games (and we can do that) for the things we see with the players every day, how they invest, how hard they are, what they are doing, what I see every day.

“If I felt different, I would feel different here. It probably wouldn’t hurt that much, but I know they’re really trying to do.”

And Ben Jacobs reported Sunday evening that Martin has been “looted from The Guards Board,” where the Garth Board is expected to make a “immediate decision.”

Both are “thank you” as Stephen Gerrard and Danny Roll were on the nominee list on Glasgow’s South Side before Martin took charge.
