Arsenal celebrated a 2-0 Premier League victory over West Ham, but as a result, it was overshadowed by a worrying injury from Captain Martin Ødegaard.

The Norwegian was kicked out about 30 minutes after a knee impact and was seen leaving the pitch with his knees braces.

Ødegaard fell after a violent clash in the first half and despite trying to continue, he was unable to continue and was replaced by Martin Zubimendi.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta later admitted that players were “not positive” about how their knees feel, and that the sight of Ødegaard wearing the braces while the Emirates amplifies the fear that the captain might miss time.

Arsenal was confirmed to confirm Ødegaard suffers a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee in his victory at West Ham on Saturday.

In an official update, the club emphasized that Ødegaard will be “continuedly evaluated and treated by the medical team at Soba Realty Training Center.”

They stated: “Martin will continue to be evaluated and treated by the medical team at Soba Realty Training Center during the international window, with the aim of returning to action as soon as possible.”

Losing Ødegaard is important. Beyond his tactical importance, the Norwegian is at the heart of Arsenal’s creativity.

Timing is extremely important. Arsenal said he wanted a return “as soon as possible,” and there was speculation that the club would focus on an international break clash at Fulham as a potential target for his comeback.

However, MCL damage varies in severity and can manage mild sprain within a few weeks, while more serious injuries may require longer periods of rehabilitation.

The good thing about Arsenal’s team this season is that they are the ones who can play in the position of Odegaard as the team’s main creator.

Arteta must continue to adapt his midfield plans and perform on the sides while the Arsenal captain works through rehabilitation.
