Rasmus Højlund’s summer loan moves to Naples rapidly beyond temporary arrangements.
Transfer News expert Fabrizio Romano has given a solid verdict on the future of Denmark International, suggesting that the latest developments suggest Manchester United are trying to shut down a chapter on signatures that are more prominent than many expected.
United have agreed to send Hozilund to Napoli this summer on a loan that includes obligations for the Serie A side to buy if they qualify for the Champions League next season.
Naples is determined to sign Højlund permanently
That clause alone provided a clear route for Italian clubs to make this transaction permanent, but recent reports suggest that Naples may be even more committed to keeping them 22 years old regardless of the trigger of the clause.
The Danish striker has scored six goals in all competitions this season.
Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel that Højlund’s permanent relocation to Naples is almost guaranteed.
He said:
“Apart from the obligation to purchase, Naples wants to maintain Rasmus Hojlund forever.
“Naples trusts him and sees him as part of a long-term project.
“A permanent relocation is almost guaranteed.”
Højlund has no future for Man United to move forward
Naples Trust Hojlund sees him as a long-term project and wants to protect him.
Højlund’s era at Old Trafford produced potential flashes but showed limitations, but he managed 26 goals and struggled at times to adapt to the physical and tactical requirements of the Premier League.
However, in Serie A, the younger attacker showed that his style of play in Italy suited his game and that manager Antonio Conte made the most of him.
Along with Man United’s Benjamin Sesco, the other strikers will have a hard time getting playing time.
