TGL Schedule 2026: Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s Golf League enters second year with high expectations

The 2026 TGL season is scheduled to begin just before the turn of the year, as Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s Simulator Golf League enters its second year with heightened expectations and anticipation. Featuring a 15-game regular season contested by the league’s six teams, TGL will take place during many of the same broadcast windows it did during its inaugural campaign, as it is hosted by the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

But the second season isn’t without some wrinkles, and while the first President’s Day tripleheader was filled with one electric shot after another last year, this season’s schedule isn’t. TGL has also decided to slot in a match between Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club and McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf on Sunday, March 1 at 9 p.m.

TGL’s 2026 season begins Sunday with reigning champion Atlanta Drive, Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, Billy Horseshell and Lucas Glover, who won the New York Golf Club in the 2025 finals. New York exactly wants to run through the Cameron Young trio of Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, and Matt Fitzpatrick.

Other notable matchups include Boston vs. Los Angeles in the league’s only Friday game, scheduled for Jan. 2 at 7 p.m.

TGL has decided to cede the stage to the week of the PGA Tour’s flagship event, earning a playoff two weeks after the action at TPC Sawgrass. The league will conclude play before the major championship season arrives in April.

TGL matches are played over 15 holes and 2 sessions. Players hit full swing shots onto a simulator screen with short shots of less than 50 yards and short match shots held inside the rotating, adjustable green SOFI Center. There are also some additional wrinkles including timeouts, shot clocks, and hammers, so let’s dive into them all.

Hole Nos. 1-9-Triple (3-on-3 alternative shot): The two teams of three face off in the first session with alternate shots. Let’s say Rickie Fowler tees off at No. 1. Matt Fitzpatrick hits his approach shot and Xander Schauffele attacks the first putt. This rotation continues until the hole is completed.

Hall Nos. 10-15-Single (head to head play): After the 9-hole triple, the player is taken to a single. This is exactly what it sounds like. Individuals from one team hole up against individuals from the other team, with the winner receiving points. All three players hole again on holes Nos 13-15 before the cycle starts again.

over time: Race to 3 vs 3 pins

score: Each hole is worth 1 point with a tie equal to zero. There is no carryover.

hammer: Each hole in a TGL match is worth 1 point unless a team literally decides to throw a “hammer” (not an actual hammer). A team can accept the hammer and play the hole for two points, or deny it and concede the hole. There are three hammers available for use during each match.

Shot clock: Players have 40 seconds to make a shot or face a one-stroke penalty.

timeout: Each team has four timeouts per match. Two are triples and two are singles. There is no carryover from session to session.
