Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – Skin Games is back on the golf calendar after 17 years and has some new aspects.
The skin game will play on Friday after Thanksgiving. Just like it began in 1983, he appears among the world’s top six golfers, including Ryder Cup Star and FedEx Cup champion Tommy Fleetwood, US Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley, Justin Thomas and Zander Schaufele.
New: The Skin Game is moving from the California Desert to South Florida and will air on Prime Video instead of network television.
It will be held at Panther National, a new Florida course that opened two years ago and was designed by Thomas and Jack Nicklaus. Bradley, Schauferle and Thomas all live in the area.
The skin game, which began with golf’s biggest star in 1983, was last played in 2008, with KJ Choi winning. It was the basis of what was once known as the “silly season” in golf. It started in 1983 with Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Gary Player (Vin Scully was the announcer) and spent the Thanksgiving weekend in California.
The new Skins game comes in a similar format. The player will earn the dollar amount for each hole and will be taken over if the hole is tied up. The difference is the “reverse wallet,” where all four players start at $1 million and their fate rises or falls when their fortune is won or lost.
Coverage begins at 9am This is Prime’s second golf event. Last month, it announced that it would stream weekday coverage at Master for another two hours.
