Barcelona have reportedly decided to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on a permanent contract at the end of this season.

The 27-year-old completed his dream move to Barcelona on a season-long loan in the summer.

The move follows the player’s falling out with manager Ruben Amorim last season, which resulted in Rashford being dropped from the squad.

He joined Aston Villa on loan during the January transfer window and made an impression in his short time there.

Since joining Barcelona in the summer, the player seems to have completely found his rhythm, contributing eight goals (three goals and five assists) in 10 games.

His performances have caught the attention of the Barcelona board, who are now looking to sign him on a permanent contract.

According to The Sun, the Spanish giants have already decided to sign him permanently in the summer of 2026.

According to the newspaper, Barcelona were initially hesitant to sign Rashford as they did not understand why Man United would let him go and suspected that there was something wrong with the player.

However, after seeing his performances at the club, the club are “shocked” by the permanent contract clause that would allow him to join Barca for just £25m plus £5m add-ons, a sum that Barcelona consider to be a good bargain.

Marcus Rashford’s time at Manchester United

Rashford has developed into a key figure at Manchester United since his breakthrough in 2016.

The England international, who came out of United’s academy, quickly became a fan favorite and one of the modern faces of the team.

His best season for the club came in 2022/23, when he finished with 30 goals and 12 assists for the club.

Rashford has made 426 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United, scoring 138 goals and providing 78 assists.

There is a good chance he has already played his last game for the club as Barcelona aim to make him a permanent transfer.

The chances of a return are slim and depend on whether Ruben Amorim is sacked and his successor wants to sign Rashford.

However, that scenario is becoming increasingly unlikely with Sir Jim Ratcliffe publicly backing the Portuguese manager for the next three years.
