  • Ivan Toney proved himself in the Premier League
  • West Ham lack offensive presence

West Ham United are reportedly seeking a surprise loan move for Ivan Toney, with the Hammers considering a short-term deal to add goals to their attack.

According to Football Insider, the London club are monitoring whether they can secure a temporary deal from Al Ahly to add more firepower to their currently struggling attack this season.

Tony’s profile clearly makes sense for West Ham. The English striker has experience in the Premier League and is known for his goal-scoring ability, and is praised for his physical presence and movement in the box.

Ivan Toney proved himself in the Premier League

Toney showed his quality at Brentford in the Premier League, which is why some of England’s biggest clubs were interested in signing him before he decided to move to the Middle East.

Former chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider:

“Ivan Toney has definitely caught the attention of West Ham. We know they need a striker because they don’t have enough strikers. I think he’s a good fit for the team because he’s strong and physical and always scores goals. If he can play like that, it would suit him too.”

If you look at the strikers available, there aren’t that many available, and certainly not many have the record Tony has. If they can get him on loan, they will definitely consider it as they don’t seem to have the money to spend on a permanent transfer. ”

West Ham United currently use Niklas Flukrug as their main striker, although Jarrod Bowen has also been used in that position, although he is not a natural number nine.

A striker who can occupy centre-half, provide a target for early crosses and also link up in tight spaces would give the Hammers more diverse attacking options, something they currently lack and something manager Nuno Espirito Santo is looking for in the market.

The Hammers currently sit 19th in the Premier League and are looking to the January transfer window as a key opportunity to strengthen their squad in preparation for a turnaround in 2026.

Toney currently earns £525,000 a week in Saudi Arabia, a level he will not be able to match at West Ham.
