The striker, described by Harry Maguire as ‘world class’, has made an excellent start to the season and has emerged as a key target for Manchester United.
Manchester United are keen for a new striker despite Sesco’s improved form
There was some concern about the way Benjamin Sesko started the season, given that he is one of Man United’s most expensive signings in history, but the Slovenian has started to improve his performances in recent weeks.
The 22-year-old scored United’s only goal in a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Brentford before scoring his second goal in the 2-0 win over Sunderland with a smart finish from inside the box.
However, despite Sesco’s rise in form, the Red Devils are still keen to add another striker and Ruben Amorim’s options are perhaps a little light given that Joshua Zirkzee, who scored just three goals in the Premier League last season, is the current reserve.
TEAMtalk reports that Manchester United currently have Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane as a key target, but their chances of defeating Tottenham Hotspur will depend on them improving on their current league position.
United may struggle to convince Kane to move to Old Trafford. The 32-year-old’s emotional ties to Spurs could influence Kane’s decision-making, as the striker is prioritizing a move to a club that plays in Europe and competes for regular signings.
The former Tottenham man, who joined Bayern Munich for £86m in 2023, probably has unfinished business in the Premier League and is within reach of Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record, but he has already established himself as one of the best strikers in top flight history.
‘World class’ Kane would be a huge coup for Manchester United
Man United are said to have a long-term interest in the Bayern star, and Maguire has previously praised his team-mate’s impact at international level, which is no surprise given he is England’s all-time leading goalscorer.
The centre-back said: “He leads by example on and off the pitch and is a great person in the dressing room. He’s a great, world-class player. He proves that every year and it’s because of his attitude to training.”
The England captain has been a consistently top-flight striker for more than a decade, but there are early signs that this season could be his best yet, with an astonishing 18 goals in all competitions.
competition | Appearance | the goal |
Bundesliga | 6 | 11 |
champions league | 2 | 4 |
DFB Cup | 1 | 2 |
DFL-Super Cup | 1 | 1 |
The signing of Kane would obviously be a big change for Man United, but unless there is significant improvement before the 2026 summer transfer window, it’s hard to imagine a deal happening.
