STOCKHOLM — Holger Ruhn said Sunday that he could be sidelined for “a while” with an Achilles tendon injury that will require surgery.

World No. 11 Ruon left the court with a visibly painful limp in the semi-finals of the Nordic Open in Stockholm on Saturday, leading 6-4, 2-2 against Hugo Humbert before being forced to leave with an injury.

“It’s going to be a while before I can be on court again. It’s tough. I had so much fun on the court in Stockholm and I can’t bear to think I won’t be able to feel this energy for a while,” he wrote on Instagram.

The 22-year-old Dane said his Achilles tendon was “completely fractured in the proximal part” and would require surgery next week.

Loon has reached the quarterfinals of three Grand Slam tournaments and was ranked as high as No. 4.
