£60m defender happy with playing for Newcastle

Newcastle did well in terms of signings in the summer transfer window, retaining their best players apart from Alexander Isak. One of them was Tino Libramento, who has attracted interest from Man City in recent months.

Libramento was an outstanding performer for Newcastle last year, and his form has earned him a number of call-ups to the England squad. He is currently sidelined with a knee injury, but when he returns he will continue to be an important part of Eddie Howe’s team and he should be for many years to come.

Mick Brown has revealed to Football Insider that Livramento is happy at Newcastle and is open to signing a new contract in the coming months.

“Libramento gets all the praise. Despite his injuries, he worked hard to get into the Newcastle team, played where he was needed and always did a great job. He did the same in England and built up his reputation quite a bit.”

He has made a lot of progress since joining Newcastle, where he clearly has built trust and a good relationship with the manager. Of course, when a player consistently performs at such a level, he will attract interest from other clubs looking to poach him. But from what I’ve heard, Livramento is happy at Newcastle and I would expect him to be keen to stay if a new contract is on the table.

“If we can lock him down, it will be the best outcome for all parties. Not only will Newcastle retain a great player, but he will be able to play regularly at the top level and continue and build on the progress he has made there.”

Livramento is currently contracted to Newcastle until 2028, so his future will soon be in uncertain territory. New sporting director Ross Wilson will likely anticipate this by offering the full-back a new contract in the coming months.
