  • Spurs are considering signing a new striker amid dispute with Tell
  • ‘Powerhouse’ Omorodion could take Spurs attack to next level

Tottenham Hotspur sporting director Fabio Paratici is currently working with the same agent as Mohamed Kudus to personally push for a move to an “absolute powerhouse”.

Spurs are considering signing a new striker amid dispute with Tell

After being left out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad, Matthijs Tell admitted he was upset about the decision, saying: “Honestly, I was very, very frustrated for weeks. But I thought, ‘I’m going to use this to show him that he needs to be on the team list.’

“The bad things help me get better more than the good things. So I’m going to face a lot of bad things, but I’ll be okay with that. I’m not on the team list right now, but I’m going to do my best to be on the team list in January.”

However, manager Thomas Frank’s decision to remove Tell is starting to look vindicated, with the striker performing very poorly in Sunday’s 2-1 home defeat to Aston Villa before being replaced by Richarlison due to a calf problem.

The Frenchman failed to make much of an impact on the match, touching the ball just 15 times, and also squandered one big chance before being sent off at the hour mark.

It may therefore come as no surprise to learn that Tottenham are looking to sign a new striker, with The Boot Room reporting that Paratici is personally pushing for the signing of FC Porto striker Sam Omolodion, although the price could be very high.

Omorodion has an £87m release clause in his contract with Porto, but some believe he could be acquired for less given the Portuguese club’s current financial situation.

Bringing in a new striker could make sense with Dominic Solanke struggling with injury and Tell yet to make a big impact, but Porto’s star is not the only player on the shortlist, with Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic also still interested.

‘Powerhouse’ Omorodion could take Spurs attack to next level

Unlike Tell, the Porto star has made an excellent start to the season and has already scored eight goals in nine competitive matches, most recently scoring a hat-trick against CD Celorisens at Taca de Portugal.

Ben Mattinson also suggests the 21-year-old is destined to play at the highest level, with scouts particularly impressed with his physical attributes.

Tottenham could certainly bring in a new striker, given that Tell has struggled, Richarlison and Solanke have suffered various injuries, and Omolodion, who shares Kudus’s agent, has shown he can take their attack to the next level.
