Nottingham Forest criticize manager Ange Postecoglou for lack of patience

Last weekend, Nottingham Forest decided to sack Ange Postecoglou after only 39 days in the role. The former Tottenham manager was sacked minutes after the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea, ending a difficult period at the City Ground.

Postecoglou is the second Forest manager to be sacked this season, following Nuno Espirito Santo. There has been, and continues to be, criticism over the handling of both situations.

Matt Le Tissier reacts to Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal

Former footballer Matt Le Tissier told Football Insider his reaction to Forest’s situation. I don’t feel much sympathy for Coach Postecoglou, but I think he should have been given more time.

“I think you really have to go back a little bit and ask yourself why Nuno was sacked in the first place. Obviously there was a breakdown, but when you try to replace someone, given the squad of players they have, it’s very strange to replace someone who is the complete opposite of the previous manager.”

“So, that was the first question in my opinion. Secondly, is 39 days long enough for a manager to try to introduce a completely different system with new players? It’s not. Ange, he’s probably a bit of a shame because in that he was also in European football, there was no real break for him to work in the team.”

“It was like game after game every three or four days. So I think it’s a bit harsh, or actually really harsh, to sack a manager in such a short period of time. Especially considering that, I appreciate that Spurs were rubbish in the league last season, but he wasn’t really focused on that, he just wanted to win the Europa League. But fair play to him, he did it.”

“This is a manager who has won important trophies and yet after 39 days he’s like, ‘See you later, mate, it’s time to rest.’ But from Ange’s point of view, I think he should get paid well for that, so I don’t think there’s any need to feel sorry for him from that point of view.”

Forest have already stepped down as manager Postecoglou, and it appears that they are planning to appoint Sean Dyche as their next manager. They will be hoping for an improvement in his form when he arrives at the City Ground.
