Manchester United midfielder Koby Mainu could move on in January this year, with several Premier League clubs including Tottenham, Newcastle United, Manchester City and Brentford reportedly monitoring his situation closely.

TEAMtalk reports that the 20-year-old remains committed to his development at Old Trafford and has a long-term future with the Red Devils.

But the talented midfielder is hoping to secure more regular game time, a key element in his ambitions to break into England’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Koby Mainu wants more playing opportunities

Mainu is regarded as one of the most promising players to come out of Man United’s academy.

Opportunities are limited, however, as competition for United’s midfield positions remains fierce and the club currently struggles to find consistency under manager Ruben Amorim.

The England international knows consistent playing time is essential for his development and any chance of impressing Thomas Tuchel ahead of the next World Cup.

This has led to speculation that he could seek a loan move to their Premier League rivals in January in order to gain valuable first-team experience.

Clubs such as Tottenham and Newcastle see Maynou as an ideal addition to their midfield rotation, while Man City are reportedly interested in his potential and technical profile.

Brentford, known for nurturing young talent, are also keeping an eye on developments.

However, Man United’s position on this issue remains unclear. The club’s lack of depth in midfield could complicate any potential departure, with Amorim likely unwilling to allow a loan move unless reinforcements arrive over the winter.

Manchester United see the 20-year-old as a key player for their long-term future, but the reality of limited playing time could prompt him to go on loan in January.
