Manchester United are reportedly keeping an eye on the situation of Mason Greenwood, who is expected to leave for a big fee in 2026.
The former Man United forward is currently in form for Marseille after previously leaving Old Trafford on a permanent transfer.
It is worth noting that Greenwood was arrested during his time at United and was suspended by the club following very serious allegations, which were later withdrawn.
According to United in Focus, Greenwood is back to his best form so far this season with seven goals and four assists in 10 games, which has led Barcelona to keep an eye on him.
Manchester United could benefit big in 2026 with Mason Greenwood transfer
This could be important as United have a sell clause with Greenwood, with journalist Graham Bailey telling United in Focus that the percentage could be up to 50%.
“Manchester United believe they will receive a ‘significant’ sale fee from Mason Greenwood in 2026, but the club will not rely on it and consider it a bonus,” Bailey said.
“United have a 50% sell clause in the contract that sent Greenwood to Marseille. He has performed well this season and has shown himself as one of the best players in France this season. In fact, Barcelona are among a number of major clubs who are eyeing him.”

“United are keeping an eye on Greenwood and are happy that he is doing well. I hear they are monitoring, listening to how things are going and are aware and think he could get a significant bonus next year. They are not looking to get any money from him, so the thought is that whatever they do could add to their finances.”
Barcelona could sign a new striker next season
Sport magazine has reported that Barcelona are also linked with Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, so it’s no surprise that Greenwood is also interested.
The Catalan giants currently have Robert Lewandowski as their main striker, but he will be 38 next season and is heading towards the end of his contract.
If Greenwood continues his form, he could be an ideal signing for Hansi Flick’s side, but Alvarez will certainly have less baggage.
