Roll furious after Rangers defeat
The Roll era got off to a disappointing start on Thursday night with a 3-0 loss away to Brann in the Europa League, but the season continues to suffer.
In his post-match press conference, Rangers’ new manager was not pleased with what he saw from his players, took stock of the defeat and apologized to the fans.
“[At the end]I first apologized[to the fans]for this loss and the performance. They have traveled a lot for the team and are always there. This club has a lot of passionate fans and they deserve this. It was very important for me to show that I understand them. I also told them that we are working hard to improve this group of players and get results.”
“We had a great welcome before the game. So you would want them to get the three points and feel good right away. So it’s a shame we couldn’t do that. That’s why I walked up to them to give them the big respect they deserve. This is my job. The fans have to be very patient and understand that you can’t expect them to always be happy when you put in a performance like this.”
Thursday’s defeat is further proof that Rangers need plenty of extra quality, whether it’s in January or next summer, with high-profile names linked with a move to Ibrox, with manager Andrew Kavenagh reportedly set to back Rolle in January.

talk hotline live (via ibrox news), Daily Record journalist Daniel Kau has discussed the idea of Rangers signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner. Part of that is due to his relationship with new first team performance manager Sascha Rense.
“Lens is Werner’s father-in-law and the new Rangers (performance manager), so he might be someone to keep an eye on.”
Leipzig ace Werner won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 and would be an interesting addition for Rangers, having scored 24 goals in 57 games for Germany.
Now 29, his best days may be behind him, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be a formidable weapon, with even the grumpy Roy Keane once praising him.
“He’s a tough guy to play against, Werner. There are question marks about his final product, his last pass. But he influences the game and he’s a threat.”
The lens element will hopefully help the Rangers, and if they can land Werner in January, it would give Rohr a big boost midway through the season. However, it is debatable whether he wants to leave Leipzig’s top club.
