  • Injury concerns for Liverpool ahead of game against Brentford
  • Liverpool a likely destination for England star

Liverpool are now seen as a genuine destination for the ‘phenomenal’ player who hopes to shine at next summer’s World Cup.

Injury concerns for Liverpool ahead of game against Brentford

The Reds may have gotten back to winning ways against Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek, but they need to show that it was more than just a temporary win against a weaker opponent.

Liverpool travel to Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday night, which could be a huge test and the champions will have to make do without several influential players.

Alisson is still missing goals and is missing a lot of his world-class presence, while Jeremy Frimpong is also set to miss out after sustaining a hamstring injury in Frankfurt.

Ryan Gravenbirch and Alexander Isaac are also likely to be unavailable for Liverpool’s trip to west London, so it won’t be easy for Brentford, who have won two of their last three games, to pick up all three points away from home.

The Reds remain on the lookout for new signings and a move for Marc Guehi is expected to be back on the table, but he is not the only England international on their shopping list.

Liverpool a likely destination for England star

talk to team talk‘s insider Dean Jones has said that Liverpool are a “possible” move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.

“I don’t think Anderson will close the door by returning to Newcastle, and I don’t really have a problem with that, but I do wonder how likely that is in terms of the other options he has. Man United, Liverpool and Man City all look like potential destinations for him at the moment, but when such a door opens, is he going to go back to where he’s already played?”

“As a player, there’s no doubt that you always want to feel a sense of progress, so Newcastle would have to be in a very strong position to enter and win the battle to sign him. I have to say that I don’t think the Man United move is as completely certain as some people think.”

“He’s on their list, but I get the impression that there are still questions as to whether he’s the ideal midfield partner for Bruno Fernandes. That’s something they continue to explore.”

Anderson, who earns £40,000-a-week, is enjoying the best period of his career and has established himself as a regular starter at the bottom of England’s midfield alongside Declan Rice.

The 22-year-old has shown composure in front of the defense but also the ability to push forward, with England teammate Reece James recently calling him a “phenomenal” player.

Liverpool are not short on top-level midfield options, but Wataru Endo could leave next year and would be a strong option, especially if Andersson continues on his current trajectory.
