Aston Villa had a difficult start to the season, but Unai Emery’s side have improved in recent weeks. They have won three in a row in the Premier League and will be aiming for a fourth in a row when Man City travel to Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

Off the pitch, things look good for Aston Villa, especially when it comes to renewing his contract. They are on the verge of reaching a final agreement with one of their most important players in recent years, which will come as very welcome news for the club’s supporters.

According to TBR Football, manager Graham Bailey has confirmed that an agreement in principle has been reached for John McGinn to sign a new contract at Aston Villa, following Matty Cash signing a new contract of his own.

“It’s great news for Villa that Roberto Olave is starting in earnest. It shows the real relationship between him and Emery and shows that he can come in and continue negotiations and actually make rapid progress.

“I’ve heard that Cash’s contract is done and McGinn has an agreement in principle. Obviously they want to get those deals done by January, which makes sense because then they can hit the window completely. Contract talks are also continuing for Rodgers and Tielemans, but they’re not that far along at the moment.”

McGinn has been a great servant to Aston Villa since joining from Hibernian in 2018. A return to Scotland has been linked in recent weeks, but there is little doubt that he will remain at Villa Park for at least a few more years, which will be very pleasing to everyone at the club, especially manager Emery, who has used him across the park during his tenure.
