Parma’s rising star Zion Suzuki has emerged as one of the hottest goalkeepers in Europe, with both Chelsea and AC Milan chasing the Japanese international, according to a report in Corriere dello Sport.

The 23-year-old has been a mainstay for Parma since 2024 and has already made 44 appearances in Serie A.

Suzuki’s name has moved to the forefront as Chelsea are thought to be evaluating long-term options other than Roberto Sanchez, while Milan assess their number one player’s depth and succession plans.

Chelsea’s goal is to learn English and Italian

Interestingly, he is studying English and Italian, a small but clear sign that the player is preparing for the next step.

In the current goalie market, Suzuki’s appeal is easy to understand. He is a keeper who is used to advancing from his line, claiming crosses decisively and launching attacks with quick and precise distribution.

Although Sanchez is experienced, the London club have consistently studied the profile of someone who could grow into the role over multiple seasons.

A keeper like Suzuki who has defensive range, is comfortable in tight spaces, is quick to counterattack and is reliable under set-piece pressure would strengthen Chelsea’s team and goalkeeping department.

However, the Premier League giants will have to face competition from Milan, who are looking for a long-term replacement for Mike Maignan.

The price has not been disclosed, but it would not be a modest starting point for the 23-year-old international who has already proven himself in Serie A.

Whether the timeline is January or summer, Suzuki is entering a critical period in his career, and his next move could determine his future path.

The Blues reportedly have faith in their current goalkeeping options, but Suzuki’s performances have caught their attention.
