  • Spurs consider signing new striker amid concerns over Tell and Solanke
  • ‘Elite’ Omorodion could take Tottenham’s attack to the next level

Tottenham Hotspur are currently in talks to sign an ‘elite’ new striker, who sporting director Fabio Paratici is a huge fan of, it has been revealed.

Spurs consider signing new striker amid concerns over Tell and Solanke

Dominic Solanke has been plagued by injuries since joining N17, having suffered problems with his knees, thighs and ankles during the 2024-25 season, which he was unable to overcome earlier this season.

Solanke is expected to be out for a long period of time, and it has emerged that the English striker, who was Ange Postecoglou’s first choice as a centre-forward last season, may not be a favorite with manager Thomas Frank.

Matthijs Tell has been leading Frank’s side’s line in recent weeks while the 28-year-old remains on the treatment table, but Jamie O’Hara is unimpressed and the former midfielder singled out the Frenchman for criticism after the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

As such, Tottenham are currently stepping up their search for a new striker, and have begun negotiations to sign FC Porto star Sam Omolodion, according to a report in Caught Offside.

Paratici is a big fan of Omorodion’s versatility and Spurs have held talks about the possibility of an initial short-term deal with an option to buy, but the Portuguese club’s huge asking price proved to be a big problem.

Indeed, it has been revealed that the Portuguese La Liga side are willing to pay a huge fee for the 21-year-old and are unwilling to let him leave for less than the €100m (approximately £87m) release clause in his contract.

‘Elite’ Omorodion could take Tottenham’s attack to the next level

Scout Ben Mattinson has revealed he believes the Porto striker, who has already established himself as a star in La Liga, can play at a higher level.

The three-time Spain international has had a very impressive 2024-25 season, scoring 19 league goals in addition to eight goals in 10 games in all competitions, making for a promising start.

With Tell struggling and Richarlison finding the back of the net 23 times in Tottenham’s 103 games, it makes sense for Frank’s side to bring in a new striker, and Omorodion has proven he can be a great option.
