  • Juventus are looking for an attacking full-back
  • Maro Gusto is struggling for playing time at Chelsea

According to Calciomercato, Italian giants Juventus are eyeing the signing of Chelsea right-back Maro Gusto.

Still only 22, the France international has made an instant impression since joining Chelsea from Lyon, but limited minutes and the return of Reece James could open the door for a move.

Juventus’ bosses are said to have long admired the young defender and consider him a potential solution to the club’s right-back dilemma, particularly after the Bianconeri missed out on signing Atletico Madrid’s Nahuel Molina last summer.

Juventus are looking for an attacking full-back

The Serie A side came close to agreeing to sign Molina during the previous transfer window, but ultimately were unable to complete the move due to financial and timing constraints.

Since then, the need for a dynamic full-back who can contribute both defensively and offensively has remained a key priority.

Known for his explosive speed and overlapping runs, Gusto is exactly the kind of player Juventus would be considering signing.

At Chelsea, Gusto’s development has been somewhat curtailed by the continued presence of club captain James, and as he returns to full fitness, the Frenchman has featured less in the starting line-up.

His performances have also attracted attention in Europe, with Juventus reportedly monitoring the situation closely and aware that Chelsea could be open to a sale if a suitable offer arrives.

Juventus also have long-term plans, aiming to reduce the average age of their squad while maintaining quality.

The Turin-based club’s sporting director is believed to have initiated contact with representatives to gauge Gusto’s interest in a move, although no formal bid has yet been made.

Juventus’ admiration for the French defender is genuine and with Molina remaining under contract at Atletico Madrid, Gusto would be a realistic and affordable replacement.

If James remains healthy and Gusto continues to struggle to find playing time, a move to Turin could appeal to all parties.
