  • Arsenal have made keeping Saka their top priority.
  • Saka is key to Arsenal’s future ambitions

Arsenal are close to securing Bukayo Saka’s long-term future with negotiations on a new contract progressing well, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Negotiations have been ongoing since the summer as the club aim to offer the 24-year-old winger improved terms and an extended stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Saka’s current contract is due to enter the final 18 months in January, increasing the urgency of a deal as the Gunners aim to protect one of their most valuable assets.

The England international has scored three goals in his last six competitive appearances, but was forced to leave Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League win against Crystal Palace due to illness, but returned to score in the EFL Cup win against Brighton.

Arsenal have made keeping Saka their top priority.

For Arsenal, locking down Saka means more than a contractual figure and is central to the club’s sporting strategy under manager Mikel Arteta.

The Hale End graduate has evolved from an academy prospect to a key player in the first team.

His ability to carry the ball under pressure, link up in tight spaces and make decisive contributions in the final third has been integral to Arsenal’s attacking identity and push to consistently compete at the top end of the Premier League and Europe.

Reported negotiations focus on a significant salary increase that reflects Saka’s status among the league’s elite wide forwards and his market value.

As negotiations progress, Arsenal will be mindful of managing their workload to keep their talisman fresh at a crucial stage of the season.

A new contract will reassure supporters, demonstrate continuity of contract and set the tone for other contract priorities within the team.

For Saka, long-term security with a club built around him provides stability to continue honing his game.
Negotiations are said to be “progressing well” and Arsenal appear ready to close a pivotal chapter in their long-term rebuild by tying Saka to a new deal.
