Crystal Palace eye Premier League star to replace Liverpool target

Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa to replace Marc Guehi.

Liverpool remain keen to sign Guehi after coming close to agreeing a contract in the summer, and it is expected that he will become a free agent at the end of the season even if he does not move to Anfield.

With Guehi unlikely to sign a new contract with Palace, they will need to find a new defender and Konsa would be a smart target for the Eagles.

The England international has shone at Villa Park and one might imagine he would be a capable replacement for Gehi in Oliver Glasner’s side.

Liverpool themselves have an interest in Konsa, but unless they succumb to his signature, we imagine they will prioritize Guehi again.

Villa will certainly not want to let Konsa go, but financial problems have forced him to sell recently.

The Premier League Profit and Sustainability Act has hit Villa particularly hard, which is why the club brought in Douglas Luiz last summer, John Duran in January and Jacob Ramsey ahead of this season.

That could mean Palace have a serious chance of buying Konsa if the funding is right.

This would be an interesting story. Konsa is certainly good enough to earn a big move and Selhurst Park looks like a very attractive destination at the moment.

Glasner won the FA Cup and Community Shield with Palace in recent months, setting a club record unbeaten run that only recently came to an end.
