Trent Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool in the summer and signed for Real Madrid on a reduced contract after his contract at Anfield expired. There was a lot of talk about the move at the time, but so far the right-back has struggled to make his mark at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Trent was in and out of the starting lineup early in the season, before being sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring injury in September. He returned to Real Madrid’s squad last weekend, but has not yet played since returning to 100% fitness, and it is thought that midfielder Federico Valverde will be used at right-back for the time being.

This has sparked speculation about Trent’s future, but according to Football Insider, manager Pete O’Rourke has explained that neither the player nor the club are considering leaving.

“I don’t know about it myself. Obviously, it wasn’t the ideal start for Trent Alexander-Arnold at Real Madrid. He had injury problems but has only recently recovered and was on the bench for El Clasico.”

“With Dani Carvajal undergoing knee surgery, it looks like he’ll probably get more chances to start in the coming weeks. There’s no doubt that Liverpool will be without him and they’re missing his creativity, but I don’t think Alexander-Arnold is thinking of leaving Real Madrid anytime soon. He’ll probably put his head down and try to earn a place in Xabi Alonso’s plans.”

“I don’t think Real Madrid will get rid of him yet. And, as I said, the player himself doesn’t want to give up on his dream of succeeding in Madrid. So, yeah, I don’t think they’re thinking about leaving Alexander-Arnold. I’m sure the player is equally focused on breaking into the team.”

It will be interesting to see if Trent can force his way into the Real Madrid squad in the coming weeks, but even if he can’t, his future will remain in the Spanish capital.
