Manchester City achieved a great deal during the summer transfer window, both in terms of transfers and transfers. One of the players who left was Manuel Akanji, who signed with Inter Milan on a season-long loan.

Since his move to San Siro, Akanji has been a constant presence in Christian Chivu’s side, who are currently one point off the top of the Serie A table. He has become so accustomed to life in Italy that he is now thinking of moving there permanently.

Akanzi, who was linked with Tottenham before joining Inter Milan, has now made it clear (via Fabrizio Romano) that he wants to stay at the Nerazzurri permanently and has no intention of returning to Man City next summer.

“We’ll see… I hope Inter buy me on a permanent contract. I feel very good here. I’ll do my best and then we’ll see.”

Romano has confirmed that Inter Milan could sign Akanji next summer with an option to buy for 15 million euros. Man City would no doubt welcome it to be triggered, but it would be no surprise that the Serie A giants would try to renegotiate his contract for a lower price, given that they are one of the many Italian clubs whose financial situation is not exactly the best.

For now, it remains to be seen how Akanji’s situation will develop. He has made a great start at Inter Milan, but a decision probably won’t be made by the club themselves until closer to the end of the season.
