Wolves have sacked manager Vitor Pereira and are looking for a new manager after a winless start to the 2025-26 Premier League season. A number of candidates have been rumored for the position in the past 24 hours, including former Liverpool and Leicester head coach Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers resigned as manager of Celtic last week after defending champions Celtic’s poor domestic performance, which left them eight points behind leaders Hearts in the SPFL Premiership. He is not looking for another job, but there is no concern that it will be at Molineux.

According to Football Insider, Mick Brown has questioned Rodgers’ desire to take over the reins at Wolves.

“Rogers’ situation at Celtic came to a head sooner than most expected. He now has to be careful where his next move is. He could end up somewhere like Wolves, but it’s not exactly a step forward in his career.”

“He will look at the situation and make a decision. If he were to take over tomorrow, would he feel he could turn things around? I think he would probably look at this, but I expect he would have concerns about the role.

“They haven’t won in 10 games and are sitting at the bottom of the table, the players are not performing and the situation is starting to feel a bit toxic. So this is a big decision for Rodgers and one he doesn’t want to get wrong. He wouldn’t want relegation on his CV and it’s a very real possibility. So I think there are some doubts, but this is a decision he has to be absolutely sure of.”

It remains to be seen who will be the next manager of the Wolves. Alongside Rodgers, he has strong links with the likes of Gary O’Neill and Erik ten Hag.
