  • €100m price tag for Van de Ven amid interest from Tottenham, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid

Tottenham are set to hand defender Micky van de Ven a new contract after his recent impressive performances.

This comes from the latest from the Telegraph’s Matt Law, who claims Spurs consider Christian Romero and Micky van de Ven to be the best centre-back pairing in the Premier League.

Tottenham have named Romero as their highest-paid player in the summer and are keen to offer the Dutch defender a new contract and a significant pay rise to reflect his importance to the team.

Since his £34m move from Wolfsburg in 2023, Van de Ven has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

He quickly formed a great partnership with Cristian Romero and became the heart of Tottenham’s defense.

And under Thomas Frank, his performance was taken to another level, not only defensively but also offensively.

He is currently Tottenham’s top scorer with six goals across all competitions and has proven to be a great goal threat at the other end of the pitch.

His most recent goal came against Copenhagen in the Champions League, a world-class solo goal after running down the pitch.

Defensively, Micky van de Ven has been a steady presence at the back of Tottenham this season, playing a key role in the new defensive solidity under manager Thomas Frank.

The Dutch centre-back has helped Spurs keep three clean sheets in the Premier League, averaging 1.1 tackles and 1.0 interceptions per game, figures that highlight his composure and defensive timing.

He retrieves the ball about 3.6 times per game, is dribbled through just 0.2 times per game, and rarely loses.

With 3.4 clearances and 0.3 blocked shots per outing, Van de Ven continued to show alertness and positioning, efficiently eliminating danger and keeping opponents at bay.

Although he doesn’t often win the ball in the final third, his main strengths are in anticipation and recovery, allowing Tottenham to maintain control in deep areas.

€100m price tag for Van de Ven amid interest from Tottenham, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid

His outstanding performances have attracted interest from several top clubs including Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

According to recent reports, Spurs have placed a hefty €100m price tag on their prized asset in a bid to fend off interest from Europe’s top clubs.

Spurs reportedly view him as a strategic asset and have no intention of letting him leave for easy reasons.
