Chelsea are interested in signing Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo Goes in the January transfer window.

Fichajes says he plans to offer around €80m (about £70m) to complete the deal. Chelsea believe this is a high-risk move, but one with huge positive potential.

Rodrygo has also been linked with moves to Manchester City and Liverpool.

Rodrygo Goes needs a move

The Brazilian has struggled to get minutes at Real Madrid and will need to move if he is to play more often. The newspaper reports that the player could be forced to leave in January if a convincing offer is made, so it will be interesting to see if Chelsea can convince him to join.

Despite acquiring two strikers in the summer transfer window, it seems they are still keen to strengthen their attacking line-up. The Real Madrid star can play anywhere in the front three and will bring goals and creativity to the team. He is regarded as a world-class talent and has been described as a “special player” by manager Carlo Ancelotti in the past. If Chelsea can get the best out of him, they could have a marquee star on their hands.

Rodrygo certainly has the potential to justify an investment of 80 million euros in the future. It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will be prepared to sanction his departure in January. Selling the Brazilian could be problematic as they need deeper scoring to perform well in multiple competitions. Even if he’s not the first name on the sheet, he’s still an invaluable first-team player for them.
