Liverpool appear to have made a huge mistake in the summer transfer window by deciding to send Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich while spending huge amounts of money to rebuild their attacking line-up.

The Reds won the Premier League title last season, with Dias playing a key role, scoring 13 goals in 36 league games.

Surprisingly, Dias was allowed to leave Liverpool for Bayern for just £65 million, while the Merseyside giants spent big on a new attacking player who just didn’t click.

Dias has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season, more than Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirths combined.

Ekitike has had a good start for LFC since joining from Eintracht Frankfurt, but so far the huge amount of money spent on Isak and Wirtz has seemed like a colossal waste.

Isak is not fully fit and has only scored one goal so far, while Wirtz has yet to score any. These are players who would command transfer fees of £125m and £113m respectively.

Can Liverpool’s underachieving forward turn things around?

Arne Slott’s side got back to winning ways with two wins against Aston Villa and Real Madrid, but there have been major concerns across the pitch this season.

Not only has Dias outperformed Liverpool’s new attackers, he has also outscored Mohamed Salah (five goals) and Kodi Gakpo (four goals) so far, both of whom have underperformed compared to what we saw last season.

Many fans will be wondering how to buy tickets for this weekend’s big game between Manchester City and Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium. At the same time, they will be preparing for a catastrophe that could end their hopes of winning the title before mid-November.

Liverpool have already conceded 24 goals in all competitions and have to fear what in-form Erling Haaland will do to them this weekend.

In happier times, the Reds might have been able to count on their frontline to come to their rescue, but that doesn’t seem to be happening now.

Perhaps we’ll see the best of Isak soon once he reaches full fitness, but how long can Liverpool wait until Wirtz settles in and finally looks like a £100m-plus player?

In Dias, Liverpool had an established Premier League player who scored a lot of goals and provided assists every season. What will happen with a player like him in the lineup this weekend?
