  • Leon is highly regarded at Carrington.
    • Man United offer striker the chance to sign bargain deal in January

Youngster Diego Leon may “not have to wait too long” to make his senior debut for Manchester United.

Despite only turning 18 in April 2025, Leon has already made over 30 appearances in senior football for Cerro Porteno in his native Paraguay. Since joining the Red Devils in the summer, Leon has only played for Man United Under-21s, where he has attracted attention for his performances.

It’s clear that Leon is an exciting talent and Manchester United will no doubt aim to avoid a repeat of what happened with Alvaro Carreras. The teenager has featured in Ruben Amorim’s matchday squad for several games and has picked up 10 of the 12 points from their last four games.

According to People’s Person, reports from Leon’s home continent of South America suggest the wing-back could be given a senior debut at Old Trafford in the near future.

Leon is highly regarded at Carrington.

Being part of a Premier League team in any capacity shows Amorim is impressed with Leon. According to journalist Cristian Martín, the Paraguayan player is firmly integrated into the club’s future plans.

“At United, he (Diego Leon) is becoming more and more involved with the first team. He’s definitely in United’s plans in the short and medium term.”

Patrick Dorg, who signed in January, is yet to make a strong impression at Man United. The former Lecce left-back has not started a game for the Red Devils since the 3-1 defeat against Brentford at the end of September.

Since Dorg’s departure, Diogo Dalot has started as a left wing-back in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system. Dalot, who is naturally suited to the right flank, has also struggled in the position, and given the injury problems of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malasia in recent years, Leon may find himself playing first-team minutes soon.

Reportedly, Leon will “get his chance sooner or later.” Top-flight football in Paraguay is of course a different level from England’s Premier League, but Leon has already played consistently in senior football, which is unusual for a player at such a young age.

It remains to be seen when exactly Leon will get his chance, but given the impression he has made since arriving in the summer, it won’t be long until the Paraguayan international takes a bow for the Reds. devil.
