Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly told the club’s owners that it is imperative they bring in an elite new addition to their midfield.
The Red Devils have shown some improvement in recent games, winning three and drawing one of their last four games.
However, overall it has still not been a great season for Manchester United, who will be hoping to return as serious Premier League title contenders.
With Casemiro aging and past his best, it’s hard to imagine Amorim being able to do that without a better option in midfield, while Manuel Ugarte has struggled to make an impression since arriving at Old Trafford last summer.
Watch below as journalist Indi Kaira gives us the latest update on United’s transfer plans. Amorim is believed to have told the owners how much he wants to sign the elite midfielder…
The same reporter also posted images of Brighton’s Carlos Baleva and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, suggesting they are players to keep an eye on.
Who is the Manchester United midfielder’s target?
As recently reported in the Daily Briefing, Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliott Anderson has emerged as MUFC’s top target heading into January.
Anderson is likely to attract interest from the likes of Manchester City, with United also thought to be considering other options.
Baleva has been on the radar of United in the past, with Fabrizio Romano recently reporting on his official YouTube channel that the Brighton and Cameroon midfielder remains a player to watch for Amorim’s side.
Romano also mentions Wharton in another YouTube video post, leading us to imagine that Wharton will eventually be one of the three names targeted.
It’s hard to see anyone else who can live up to that “elite” label so well and make it so realistic and affordable.
Meanwhile, it remains our understanding that Koby Mainu wants to leave, so it will be interesting to see if this happens and if a replacement comes along.
