  • Manchester United are not in the race to sign Endrick
  • Endrik is expected to join Lyon

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on mounting speculation linking Manchester United to Real Madrid’s highly-rated forward Endrik in a sensational move.

Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that United are not interested in signing the 19-year-old Brazilian, with Olympique Lyonnais in talks to sign the striker on loan in January.

Despite being one of the hottest young players in world football, Endrik has struggled to establish himself at Real Madrid.

The teenager, who was expected to follow in the footsteps of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, has struggled to find playing time under manager Xabi Alonso, making just one La Liga appearance so far this season.

Manchester United are not in the race to sign Endrick

Romano explained that there have been rumors that Manchester United and even Aston Villa could swoop in, but there is “no truth” to those claims.

Instead, it has been revealed that Lyon are working hard to conclude a deal and that Endrick himself is keen on a move.

“Olympique Lyonnais is working hard to conclude a contract with Real Madrid as soon as possible, as Endrik wants to join Real Madrid.” Romano said.

“The rumors about Manchester United are not true. The rumors about Aston Villa are not true. I have heard that Endrik’s absolute priority is Olympique Lyonnais.”

The proposed financing transaction appears to make perfect sense for all parties. Lyon are in desperate need of reinforcements in attack after a difficult start to Ligue 1, and Endrick is keen to feature regularly in order to continue his development and strengthen his right to earn a place in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad.

Romano added that several factors convinced Endrick that Lyon’s actions were correct.

The club’s Portuguese manager has eased the language transition, while links with Karim Benzema, one of Real Madrid’s greatest strikers and a graduate of Lyon’s academy, make the French side an even more attractive destination.

The reporter also confirmed that negotiations between Lyon and Real Madrid are already well underway, with both sides hoping to complete the move quickly rather than waiting until the final day of the transfer window.

Romano said:

“Currently, Olympique Lyonnais and Real Madrid are discussing the terms of this loan, but my hope is that this exclusive talk and Olympique Lyonnais could soon become a reality.

“So definitely sign with Olympique Lyonnais, they are way ahead of English clubs in acquiring Brazilian strikers on loan.”

Negotiations are progressing rapidly and Lyon may soon be celebrating the arrival of a player once touted as the next Brazilian superstar, while Man United may have to look for another player in the January transfer window.
